((Young Remus Lupin, requested a lifetime ago by owenlmao , sorry it took me so long and I hope you enjoy!)) ((also I apologize if Remus is OOC/written poorly; I don't have any experience reading/writing for him)) (((it's kind of a dom reader and sub lupin? idk what i'm doing with my life; sorry if this sucks)))
Remus didn't quite know what to make of (y/n) (l/n). You were smart, charismatic, and totally confident in yourself. He was completely intimidated by you, and how comfortable you seemed to be in your own skin. Everyone knew about you, the boy who was born a girl, but you owned it. You didn't let anyone's negativity affect you.
Remus, on the other hand, was constantly weighed down by self doubt. He knew his friends probably wouldn't think of him any differently for it, but he just couldn't bring himself to come out to them as gay. He was so afraid of what they'd think of him, afraid they might not feel comfortable around him anymore, and Remus did not want to jeopardize his relationship with the marauders.
He didn't think they noticed the way he gazed at the Slytherin spitfire who was unapologetically honest. He didn't think they noticed a lot of things, but they did. It was unmistakable, the way he looked at you, and his friends were determined to help him work up the nerve to talk to you...
You weren't nearly as confident as you led people to believe. You tried your best to put on a front, acting untouchable. You hoped eventually people would stop messing with you if you acted unbothered by them. And it worked, for the most part, but you still had people who refused to use your chosen name and kept calling you 'the girl who thinks she's a boy.'
Remus never did any of those things. You knew him because he sat next to you in transfiguration, and you liked to look over at his notes because they were painfully immaculate. He didn't speak to you much, but you didn't mind. You liked to keep to yourself when you could; it just meant less time for you to have to pretend.
Once you got Remus to start talking to you a little, you found you rather liked talking to him. He could be kind of awkward at times but you thought he was really sweet (and you may or may not have developed a crush on him-), and you wanted to hang out with him outside of class but he was always with his friends. You weren't the biggest fan of the Marauders, not because you were a Slytherin but because of their cocky attitude; you saw too much of yourself in them and weren't too amused by it.
Remus seemed different, though, quieter. You thought he had Ravenclaw energy and told him as much. He smiled when you told him that. "But there's gotta be some reason I'm in Gryffindor," he'd say. He really thought himself to be rather cowardly and not very Gryffindor; after all, wouldn't a true Gryffindor have the guts to come out to his best friends? Wouldn't a Gryffindor be courageous enough to tell a boy he liked him?
As time went on Remus found it harder to hide his feelings for you; each kind word made him blush, and he was a stammering mess when you looked into his eyes. His friends finally decided to sit him down and have a talk.
"So Moony, how are things with (y/n)?" asked James.
"Oh, uh, good? He's doing okay, as far as I know. I didn't think you cared much for him."
James shrugged. "I don't, but you sure do, eh?"
Remus couldn't answer, he was so flustered.
Sirius chuckled. "You've got it bad for him, eh, Moony?"
