(Y/n) and Katsuki had made a habit of spending their nights dancing and drinking, wasting money their families surely wouldn't miss. Katsuki still pretended not to enjoy things, of course, because this was just how Katsuki is. But he did enjoy it. He liked having someone who didn't judge him for being into guys, and who he felt he could trust. He liked having time to be carefree and just live, and that's what these nights at the tavern were. Time for the boys to just live.

(Y/n) had never felt so much like himself. Katsuki had never felt so understood. And they both felt an undeniable pull to one another. Since their kiss, (y/n) had been much more confident around Katsuki, especially during their nightly excursions when he could present as male. (Y/n) always felt more confident at night, when he looked like himself. He would give Katsuki kisses at the sensitive skin under his ear, or would slide his hand a little too far down his back as they danced...

Katsuki, true to character, would always hide how happy he was. But after being around him for a while, (y/n) started to pick up on Katsuki's subtler tells, the little things showing how he really felt. 

Things seemed like they would be okay for them, that they could be together both as royals and as themselves. (Y/n)'s parents still hated Katsuki, but they accepted his presence because he was prince of a considerably wealthy kingdom, and they liked the idea of an alliance with Katsuki's kingdom. But still, they wished he weren't so abrasive and rude. (Y/n), however, had no qualms with Katsuki's loud and harsh persona. If anything, he found it humorous, especially seeing his parents' reactions.

(Y/n) liked everything about Katsuki, and thought he'd finally found his person. But that's kind of hard to tell somebody, isn't it?

At any rate, his parents didn't like it one bit. They didn't like how much (y/n) seemed to enjoy Katsuki's presence. They couldn't stand the loud blond, and wished (y/n) had chosen ANY other suitor they'd presented him. 

Even now that (y/n) confirmed his decision, his parents tried desperately to change his mind. They continued bringing in suitors even after he told them he was interested in Katsuki, because they still held out hope that their wayward child could be steered in the right direction.

(Y/n), of course, could not be swayed. If anything, his parents' protests just made him all the more attracted to Katsuki. I mean, sure, Katsuki could be rather..harsh, sometimes. But he could be very sweet too, especially now that he and (y/n) had gotten to know one another better.

It was still very rare to see Katsuki smile, but he would sometimes when it was just him and (y/n). And let it be said that nothing made (y/n) happier than seeing Katsuki smile.

Time went on, and Katsuki had been in the castle for several months. At this point, (y/n) was getting tired of waiting for his parents to announce the engagement (or to even acknowledge the engagement...). He finally asked them, "Mother, father, when are you going to announce the engagement?"

"What engagement, dear?" asked his mother.

"Um,, mine? To Katsuki?"

(Y/n)'s father laughed, "oh (b/n), you're not engaged to Katsuki!"

(Y/n)'s narrowed eyes could've cut through steel with a single glare. "Father. Yes, I am."

"Has he even proposed to you?"

"I proposed to him! You were in the room when I did it!"

"That doesn't count!" Said his mother with a laugh. "Women don't propose to men!"
