(In which the mafia man sends the reader into gay panic..sorry if I get anything wrong, I'm still kinda new to the ((mostly dead, I've discovered)) fandom)

Reader POV......

Running into an unevenly matched fight is not like me. At least, not me on a normal day. But this is not a normal day. This is a day in which my friend/crush, Akutagawa Ryunosuke, went to meet alone with an entire group of powerful, and potentially hostile, people. Just because this was Port Mafia business sure as hell did not ensure his safety, and once I found out he'd gone and done this I was not about to leave him out to dry.

I had decided today that I was finally going to ask Akutagawa to go out with me, to a nice tea shop I thought he might enjoy. Even though it was a simple, platonic request, my stomach churned with anxiety at the thought. I knew he would probably refuse and I didn't want to embarrass myself, but I'd tried to set my feelings aside for so long that I decided, yes, today is the day.

If only I could find the damn man...

I searched Port Mafia headquarters, asking numerous people until I finally stumbled across his sister Gin. "Hey Gin, have you seen your brother around here recently?"

Over the course of my friendship with Ryunosuke, Gin slowly warmed up to me as well. Both of the Akutagawa siblings were slow to trust, but that's understandable. I'm honestly glad they deem me worthy of their trust..

"(Y/n), you just missed him! He went to meet with some other mafia group. I don't know all the details and he wouldn't tell me much..but I know it probably wasn't wise for him to go alone.."

"Why not?" I asked, trying not to sound as panicked as I felt.

"He made it sound like there were some powerful people there, and you can never assume these things will go smoothly.." she shrugged. "I'm sure he'll be fine, though. Ryu can take care of himself."

"Why the hell didn't you go with him?! Gin, he could be in real fucking trouble!"

She raised a brow, surely connecting the dots from 'my friend could be in danger panic' to 'gay panic.' "He's met with dangerous people before, (y/n), and he's always come back okay."

"Yeah but what if this time he doesn't? I don't want to lose him....aaand neither do you, of course!" I chuckled awkwardly. "Uhh so who should I ask for his whereabouts? And I don't mean that to sound as creepy as it does."

Gin looked so completely done with my shit. "Nobody knows where they were meeting, except maybe the boss..."

"Okay, thanks!" I yelled back to her as I sprinted down the hallway. If the boss knew, then the boss was who I was going to talk to!

"You're not permitted in the boss's private office."

"Whaaat?" I asked the man guarding the door. "Surely that's not true!"

"Yes, it is. You're not of high enough rank-"

"Alright, you go in there and tell him that (y/n) (l/n) is out here and he demands to know the location of Akutagawa Ryunosuke's current meeting."

"I doubt that would change anything-"

"Do I look like I give a shit? Ask him, since I'm 'not permitted,'" I interrupted, doing air quotes for 'not permitted.' This dumbass really woke up and chose idiocy...of course the boss will see me, if he knows what's good for him...

The man returned from the boss's office and said, "Well kid, I guess you can see him after all."

"Well no shit. I tried to tell you...and don't call me kid, I'm twenty one years old for fuck's sake." I entered the room to find Mori looking outside the window, a glass in hand.
