(I feel like an asshole for finishing this oneshot before I finish requests but anyway-)
She walked into their room that night, and he just knew something bad had happened to her.
"C'mere, baby girl," he said gently, coaxing her into his arms. She obliged, laying her head against his shoulder before finally letting her tears fall. "Shh, it's okay, baby. It's okay." He rubbed her back soothingly, continuing to whisper kind words to her as she released all her pent-up frustrations, staining his shirt with her tears.
"You can talk about it if you need to," he told her as her erratic breathing slowed. He let his hand drift to hold hers, brushing a finger against the pink ring she wore on her middle finger, symbolizing that today she felt female. It had been his idea to give her the rings, so she wouldn't have to tell him her pronouns, because he could just look. She hadn't come out as genderfluid to anyone but her boyfriend, so the rings kept her from having to announce her pronouns in front of people who didn't know.
But now, with just the two of them here together, she could speak freely.
"Isn't it weird? I mean, today it hurt me so much to be called a man, but tomorrow it might be just what I want! Why does it have to change? Why can't I just be stable, like you?"
He held her tightly and said, "There isn't one thing wrong with you. So your gender changes? That's not weird at all. That's just who you are."
"I-I just-" she spoke between hiccups, "what if- th-they don't agree?"
"Fuck everyone else. I know who you are and I think you're an amazing person, no matter your identity today or any other day. You're beautiful and super sweet, Gin, and I love you to bits."
She smiled through her tears. "Thank you. I- I just want them to u-understand.."
He gave her a smile tinged with melancholy. "I know, baby. And you know what? Take it slow. Why don't you come out to your brother first?"
"I dunno if Ryu would understand.."
"Really? After you of course, he was the first person I came out to as transmasc."
"R-really?"
He nodded. "That's right. And y'know what he said to me? He said, 'if anyone gives you shit, I'll sic Rashōmon on their pathetic asses."
"He really said that?"
"Yes, really. I promise, he'll be there for you no matter what. You don't have to tell anybody if you're that worried, but I think he'd be a good person to start with."
"I'll think about it," she told him, snuggling up closer to him, relaxing at the warmth of his skin against hers.
———————————
Gin Akutagawa was scared at first, when they started becoming more aware of themself and their gender and how, while most peoples' genders remained stagnant, Gin's was fluid, frequently changing. They didn't think anyone else could understand what that felt like. They thought they were a freak. They felt so alone.
Then they met him.
(Y/n) was a couple years older than Gin, about their brother's age, and had just recently joined the Port Mafia.
One of the guys poked him in the ribs, joking about what he was hiding under his shirt, his fingers brushing against the place where (y/n)'s binder was. (Y/n)'s face turned pale and he pushed the other male off of him.
