Although I had nearly revealed my secret to Jamie, I was liking the process of us getting to know each other.
"How about we start with your family, any siblings?" I aske Jamie.
"Two, my older sister, Hayley, shes 22 and a younger brother, Alfie, hes 8."
"Nice. I bet Alfie's a cutie." I giggled. "Are you close with them and your parents?"
"We are close, yes." Jamie replied then his body suddenly stiffened. "Im close with my father but..." He paused again. "My mother, she died when I was 12, after giving birth to Alfie."
"Oh, Jamie. Im so sorry to hear that." I put my arm on his back and rested it there.
"It's okay. It's the reason we've moved here actually. My dad wanted to move from the family home since it happened but wanted Alfie to be older first so we moved here 2 weeks ago. I went into your mothers office block last week looking for a job and Luca offered one to me, thats how I met him. Since working together hes been a great friend."
"I'm sorry about your mum Jamie. I'm glad to hear Luca has been kind to you, sometimes he puts up a macho front but he's so sweet" I smile.
"Its okay, life throws these things at you and well you just gotta move on." he sighed. "well moving on sounds harsh, I mean, I could never move on from my mother but you have to accept the facts. Dwelling doesn't help anything it only drags you down more." He sighed again and I slowly rubbed his back in empathy.
I took in Jamies words and thought about them. I was about to reply but Luca came in, interrupting us once again.
"Jamie iv gotta run to the office and e-mail some stuff, I need to show you some things too."
And with that Jamie walked out of the room with my brother. I smiled to myself, Luca really was a great guy and I was proud to call him my brother. Now that Adam was still sleeping and Luca and Jamie were gone I took my chance to lie back on the comfy sofa and think about Jamies speech.
