I sobbed for what seemed like hours before the reassuring arms of Jamie found me. I flinched as he put his arms around me and I sat with my knees drawn up to my chest rocking back and forth.
"Zara, its Jamie. Youre fine now, hes gone." He soothed me but I continued to cry.
Everything then went slowly as the police arrived and Jamie left me. Next thing I realised was Luca and Adam in the doorway of the lounge, I put my arms out to Luca as he pulled me onto his lap and cradled me while Adam pulled a blanket around me.
I had no idea how slow or fast time was going. I was oblivious to the outside world. No one told me what was going to happen to the man. Mostly because I was terrified and wouldnt let anybody near me other than Luca and Adam. I wouldnt leave Luca's arms. My parents rushed home and spoke to the police and Jamie gave a statement.
I was too numb to care. I wanted to crawl into a hole and forget everything. Erase my past and move onto a happy life but now, it would be impossible.
** THREE DAYS LATER **
I woke up in the comfort of my bed. The light was shining through my window and my alarm clock indicated it was 11 am. There were flowers around my room and then the flashbacks came back.
"LUCA!" I shouted and immediately he came rushing in. He crossed my room over to my bed and sat beside me.
"Hey, Its okay Zee." His soothing words meant so much.
"What happened?" I asked, my voice shaky
"It doesnt matter. Everything is okay now, you dont need to worry anymore."
"Im scared." I whispered
Luca began to hug me close to him then he pulled a chair up and sat next to me. I clung onto his hand while we watched 'Keeping up with the Kardashians.'
Time went by again and I didnt really pay attention. Adam saw me for a bit, my parents extended their stay here to take care of me but Jamie stayed away. I needed to talk to him, I needed to thank him for reacting and taking care of me.
What he did for me was what I needed. I needed that reassurance that everything would be okay and he gave it to me. He rescued me from the haunting memory that came back to life. He soothed me and helped me and I needed to see him.
"Wheres Jamie?" I asked Adam.
"He's downstairs, why?"
My eyes lit up slightly. "I need to thank him, can you send him up for me please?"
Adam nodded and got up and left my room. I slowly sat up in bed, my head pounding. There was a text from Jess on my phone that read:
'Zara,
So sorry to hear about what happened. I could never imagine anything worse and I just want you know that as your best friend I will always be here for you with whatever you need. I have visited you but most of the time you have been sleeping. Text me when youre awake please so I know you are okay.
Your brothers have taken great care of you. Miss you lots bestie,
Jess xoxox'
That text made me smile and I text her back straight away to let her know I was fine and thankyou for looking out for me. I pressed send just as Jamie knocked and entered my room.
