Jamie was still sat beside the bath, waiting patiently for my answer. I leant forward and pointed to the day that was marked with the red cross.
"What does that mean?" He asked me, confused.
"That means im due for my period."
"Right?" He said and waited for my answer.
"Well, thats the 12th, its now the 17th Jamie. My period is five days late." I watched as the colour slowly drained from his face.
"Oh shit."
"Yeah. I know. No wonder iv been so ill."
"But Zee, we used protection." He said, hoping that it was just a coincidence.
"One must have split, and im not on the pill." I replied. Jamie buried his head in his hands, shaking his head while doing so. After a few minutes he looked up at me again.
"Oh babe, Im so sorry." He looked like he was about to cry.
"What for?" I asked him.
"For doing this to you. I wasnt careful enough. Your whole family are going to kill me, especially Luca and Adam. Youre only young, Im only young. Iv ruined youre chances of having a life."
I lifted a hand out of the bath and rested it on his back as he stared down at the ground.
"Babe. It will be fine, I havnt even done a test yet."
"But its too much of a coincidence. Im so stupid!"
"You?" I nearly shouted at him but kept my voice quiet. "This was both of us put together Jamie. But lets just do a test first."
"Okay. Okay. Ill run to the shop and grab you a few now. All different ones." I nodded and let him go.
In the meantime I got out the bath and dried off and then got back into bed again. Luca and Adam hadnt come to check on me yet which was good. It was going to be hard to lie to them until I was ready to reveal it to them.
I sat thinking about my future. What if I was pregnant. Would I keep it? Yes. That was easy, of course I would. I could never abort an innocent childs life. I had full faith that Jamie would stay by my side though. My parents and brothers wouldnt be so happy but theyd get used to it. I was eighteen after all all and that classed me as an adult.
I could leave college and work in my fathers studio in the office. Jamie was well paid. We would be fine I kept telling myself.
I was slowly falling back to sleep again before I hear the door click open and Jamie came into my room carrying a bag. He tipped the contents out onto my bed and I read the instructions of all the packets
He followed me into the bathroom but stood facing the wall as I peed on each pregnancy test then laid them on the side and waitied for two minutes.
After the two minutes was up, the colour drained from both of our faces as all five tests indicated 'positive' I started crying as Jamie held me to him.
