We pulled up on the driveway of a medium sized house. I guessed it was about 4 bedrooms. Small but big as I would say. A modern home.
When we went inside, hand in hand I stood in the hallway taking in the decor. It was just as I had guessed, very modern. Something that an interior designer would design for an ad in a home magazine. It was lovely. A man entered the room and Jamie stepped forward.
"Hi dad." He hugged him, then used his hands to gesture towards me before walking back to my side, grabbing my hand and leading me closer. "Dad, this is Zara. Zara Hepburn. And Zara, this is my dad, Scott Evans."
I smiled my best smile at him and put my hand out for him to shake. "Its lovely to meet you, Scott." I said.
He didnt take my hand but instead pulled me closer into a hug. "Its a pleasure to meet you, my darling. Jamie always talks about you. Nice things of course." He smiled at me again before a young boy ran into the room, crashing into Jamies legs. I guessed this was his little brother, Alfie.
"Jamieeee!" The boy called.
"Alfieeee!" Jamie called back at him. My thoughts were confirmed. This was his 8 year old brother.
Jamie bent down to his level and spoke to him. "Alfie, this is Zara." He said looking up at me and Alfies eyes followed. He was adorable. "Shes my girlfriend and shes here to meet you. Say hi to her please." Jamie said to him. At first he looked up at me with shy eyes, as if he was assessing my appearance. Then he released Jamies legs and bounded on mine.
"Hi Zara!" He shouted. Wow. Very lively eight year old.
"Hi Alfie. How are you?" I asked him.
"Im okay thankyou Zara." I ruffled his hair and then he dissapeared off into another room.
I hear the clicking of heels on the marble flooring as a beautiful blonde appeared. She looked at me and pasued. Oh god, she doesnt like me. I automatically assumed the worst but she suddenly spread her arms out and continued walking towards me.
"Oh my god! You must be Zara. Im Hayley, Jamies older sister. You are beautiful and its lovely to meet you."
"Its lovely to meet you too." I replied. Taking her in, she was tall even without the heels. Her hair was a dark shade of blonde, and was long. She had striking blue eyes, long eyeslashes and perfect makeup. I knew it would be easy to get along with her.
She too, pulled me into a welcoming hug. We then made our way out to the terrace where we would be having lunch and began talking, the sun shining down on us.
"So Zara." Hayley started. "Tell me about yourself"
"What do you want to know?"
"What college you go to? How old are you? Any brothers or sisters?"
I answered her questions and we talked for the rest of the afternoon, drinking ice tea in the sun.
It reached 5pm and I suddenly realised that Dani, Emma and Jess were coming over to get ready for my own party. How could I have forgotten?!
It was a really nice day. I had nothing to be scared about, they were a very welcoming family. Jamie drove me home and we arrived minutes before the girls pulled up.
