Kili gazed with a huge smile at the landscape that was before him: a great valley of lustrous greenery, illuminated by the sun in a clear sky. It was almost at the top of a mountain, in a considerable height.

-Come on, Y/n! The weather is super good, we must take advantage of the fact that there is no wind! -Kili said excitedly.

Y/n was picking up the things after breakfast, and she smiled, seeing Kili with such enthusiasm as he looked at everything. She approached closer to him, and once she was close enough, Kili turned and tossed the backpack at her.

-Put it on, and remember to pull the rope when you've fallen enough -Kili said.

Y/n took the backpack somewhat surprised. She smirked and nodded, putting it on shortly after him.

She approached the end of the defile, and the young woman looked down, seeing how high they were. At times her head began to fail, as things were blurring around her and a slight tingle ran through her hands and feet until it reached the tips of her fingers. Y/n's breath increased by the minute.

-What happens? -He asked, looking at her confused.

-I just don't like heights, but you insisted and I had no choice but to give in -she explained, somewhat insecure of what she was doing-. However, I still don't feel capable of doing it.

-Nothing's going to happen to you, at least not being with me -Kili said mockingly, approaching her and hugging her by the shoulders.

Y/n didn't know if she was safer being on the edge of the mountain alone or next to Kili, first of all he was a junk and she did not trust his intentions too much.

-Easy, you just have to gain a little confidence -Kili said, trying to convey false assurance-. We must keep climbing, we haven't reached the top yet.

Y/n nodded and she took the path closest to where she was to climb that mountain that became steep and stony, it was a path that was getting narrower and narrower.

Kili had come forward, coming up with energy and letting small stones fall in his wake, while Y/n looked around her admiring the landscape. The woman stepped on a smooth and somewhat slippery rock that was in her way and that caused her to lose her balance a bit, but she did not fall, thankfully. Once they got to the top she felt at times more relaxed but, at the same time, more nervous to remember what they had to do, it was all Kili's idea. Y/n looked out once more, now in the highest part of the mountain, seeing that the fall was enormous and that there were quite large rocks below that threatened to take her life if she collided or fell against them. Of course, she thought she was going to do the jump wrong.

-Are you sure you want to do this, Kili? -Y/n asked, trembling.

-Sure, and I want to start now -Kili replied with a smile.

-I can't do it... I'm very afraid that... -Y/n said, but she couldn't finish the sentence, because Kili unexpectedly pushed her as he jumped right behind her. Y/n began to scream loudly in fear.

-What are you doing!? -she asked alarmed.

The young woman tried to open the parachute seeing that Kili was about to do it, but no matter how much she stretched the rope, she couldn't open it, beginning to panic.

-Kili!! The parachute!! The parachute doesn't want to open!! -She screamed with all her might, on the verge of fainting.

Kili widened his eyes upon hearing those words, starting to get nervous as well. He looked at her for a few seconds and, at the precise moment, he opened the parachute, rebounding from the force of it and rising slightly, being able to hold Y/n in his arms, who kept screaming thinking that she was still falling. She opened her eyes and saw Kili with a mischievous smile.

-Now you are no longer afraid? -He asked with a smile-. Hold on to the ropes, never let them go.

Y/n was still scared to death, they were still at a high altitude and she was running the risk of sliding, or that her hands would fail her, or that the sweat in her hands would make her detach from Kili and his parachute.

-I'm scared, so scared -Y/n gasped and trembling, holding on to Kili's neck once he held the parachute like her.

-Now you're with me, do you see how nothing happens? If you're with me, nothing happens -He said, smiling mischievously.

-Let me tell you, I can't quite believe those words -she said, laughing lightly. The young woman closed her eyes and decided to let time pass. However, a fairly strong blast of air caused the parachute to wag violently, causing both of them to scream, but much more Y/n.

-Don't let go of me! -Kili yelled scared.

-And now who's afraid? -She asked. But Kili was too focused on what he was doing, ignoring her words. Once he finished stabilizing the parachute well he was able to relax, but he didn't answer her question.

The cool air caressed her cheeks, as did Kili's as well, and as they got closer to the ground, Kili alerted her to it.

-Are you ready? It won't be long before you will be back on your beloved ground -he said, laughing lightly.

-Stop messing with me.

-You won't tell me it wasn't spectacular.

-It was horrible... Didn't you realize that I almost died?

-It's not that bad either, my brother did it much worse -Kili said, laughing.

They reached the ground, and instead of falling to their feet, they rolled over, and came to rest on a mattress of damp grass. Kili didn't stop laughing mischievously while Y/n rolled her eyes. She didn't deny that the experience was out of the ordinary and, indeed, it was fun, but she couldn't shake the fear out of her body, at least not for a long time.

Kili stared up at the cloudless blue sky with a smile, wrapping Y/n's shoulders and closing his eyes. Little by little, he was giving in to sleep, he was comfortable and it was a quiet environment.

Y/n instead couldn't close her eyes. She got up and sat on the grass looking at everything around her, crouched.

-We should go somewhere, we have to eat, it will be noon soon -she commented, but she received no reply-. Kili, did you hear me?

She turned to look at him, seeing that his eyes were closed and he was breathing calmly. "He has fallen asleep" she thought. And she, with a smile, leaned down to kiss him on the cheek. She would wait for him to wake up to start moving and, in the meantime, Y/n would observe the landscape that she had around her with a smile.
