A few days have passed since the company split, lost in an unknown world. Bilbo looked with some curiosity at the white light emitted by that great jewel that rested in his hands, the Arkenstone. He was sitting on the same bench that he chose to rest the first day in that amusement park, waiting for the dwarves to appear. He didn't know where to look or what to do. It was at morning and the warmth of the sun was comforting.

As time passed, the ring tirelessly called out to him and stunned him. At times he had intentions of throwing it into that lake that was located behind him a few meters from his position, but something inside him told him that he should keep it, he could not throw it. The hobbit kept looking at that white stone, so beautiful and bright, almost mesmerizing, remembering again the words that Smaug said about it and about Thorin.

Others were tired and sleepy after going round and round nonstop, looking for the rest of the company. The dwarf king was resting on a large oak branch, leaning against the trunk and smoking his pipe while, with the other hand, he was holding a large bottle of beer that he had managed to buy with some of his gold; apparently his illness had dissipated by being in a completely different world, without giving him time to think about his precious treasure. It was night, and he was getting ready to try to sleep once more. He sipped his ale with some slowness in his actions; huge dark circles peeked out from under his blue eyes after not being able to sleep for days in a city full of lights and noise.

Suddenly, a white light crossed the night sky and broke the darkness of the night, apparently visible only to Thorin's eyes, for only he saw it and no one else was disturbed. It could be a shooting star, a comet, a meteorite, but only he paid attention to it. The dwarf opened his eyes wider than normal, and his gaze followed that slowly descending white light near his position. He decided to go down from the tree with a certain curiosity and restlessness in his body, and he got closer to that light that hypnotized him more and more as he reached it.

-What is this? -he asked, puzzled, reaching out to try to touch that light in front of him that was not moving. He felt warmth, a comforting warmth, as if that light were white flames, but it didn't burn. Thorin decided to take a step, seeing that his arm could move forward, and when he stepped fully into that great light, he fell and hit a sandy ground full of tiny stones.

Fili and Kili were swinging on a pair of swings, talking and laughing among themselves while Oin was lying on the grass, resting, listening to the waves of the sea, the seagulls that occasionally sounded in the distance and looking at the starry sky; the full moon at the bottom of that great sea. He missed his brother. Kili had recovered quite a bit and was able to walk better again, the wound caused by that arrow hardly hurt this time. He was gaining so much confidence when swinging that, wanting to look at his brother behind him at a considerable height, he unsettled, and fell backward against the ground.

-Kili! -Fili screamed when he saw his brother lying on the ground and complaining in pain. He tried to stop the swing and, once he succeeded, he decided to get off to help his brother up at the same time that Oin called out to them.

-Look at that light! -he yelled as a white light was crossing the dark skies and settled over the beach water, just off the shore.

Fili and Kili looked at Oin, but while Kili continued to complain, Fili looked away from Oin as he saw that same light the dwarf was pointing at: a white light that seemed to float on the water.

-It doesn't move -Fili said as he approached Oin to get a better look.

-And the people walking next to it are unfazed -Kili added, complaining about his back and head.
