Kili was preparing his arrows and his quiver to go to training. He had been practicing with the bow for a few months, as he had signed up for a training workshop on the outskirts of the city. Once he finished getting everything he needed, he went to the kitchen to put a snack in his backpack.

"Mom, Fili, Uncle Thorin, I'm going to train," Kili said, picking up the keys, the quiver with the arrows and the backpack with food.

"Have a good time, my son," Dís commented as she put the clothes in the washing machine.

Kili opened the front door and walked briskly to the garage to get in the car and head toward the training ground. This time it would be done outdoors, so he had to go to the field. Once he arrived, he parked the car in the parking lot. He went to a river and wash his face a bit, so he would cool off. It was hot outside. He continued on his way along the small path that crossed the field and that would take him to the training ground, where his classmates and teacher would be waiting for him.

As Kili entered the field, his ears managed to hear something unusual, a loud sound that seemed to get closer, and it was intimidating. They were the footsteps of what looked like a group of horses galloping right in his direction, but what caught his attention the most were the shouts of men right behind him.

Kili turned around and could then see several horses galloping with their riders, only there was something unusual about them. These men were dressed in ancient clothes, and they had menacing swords and axes in their hands that seemed to point at him. Kili at that precise moment felt a fear that ran through his body from side to side, and he couldn't help screaming because of it. He knew that running would be useless, but that was the first thing his legs and body did, as an impulse, since with a bow the chances of winning would be very slim since he was just an apprentice and he have that large group of men in front of him, who seemed to use those weapons skillfully.

Kili tried to return to the parking lot by following the path, but as he progressed, everything was still a field. No sign of cars or the parking. His eyes widened.

"It can't be... This must be a dream..." he said in a whisper, confused and looking around him. Nothing, he couldn't find anything. It seemed as if he had been trapped in another world. Those horse footsteps were heard again, and he decided to keep running while he followed the path, seized with fear.

Once he got far enough away, he picked up his cell phone and tried to call Fili, but, oddly, there was no coverage. Kili put on a frustrated face and switched off his cell phone, shoving it into his jacket's pocket.

As he continued walking in a hurry, he could see a small village further down covered by a mist, with humble houses of wood and stone. Ahead was a castle. Many people were strolling within the village, and before Kili entered there, he could see a slim, tall figure approaching him.

It was a woman who wore a dress with long green skirts that reached to the ground, and on her shoulders she wore a brown cape with a hood that covered her head. He could see brown curls reaching down to her chest, and from her hood peeking out a pale-skinned feminine face with freckles and olive-green eyes.

"Welcome, stranger," she said in her soft voice. "I see that you're lost in these parts by the expression on your face."

"Yes, yes, that's right," Kili replied somewhat fearful of that young woman who had suddenly appeared to him. "Where could I go home? I was going to train with my bow and suddenly I find myself here, not knowing what happened..."

The maiden looked at him with some curiosity, and a slightly mischievous smile appeared on her thin pink lips.

"Come with me, I'll show you someone who might be able to help you," she said, turning to head to the village. "By the way, my name is Evengelis."
