Hey! I'm finally back! I'm sorry it took me soo long to publish new stories, but I'm starting to get back again :)
One comment I have to say: this oneshot is located in Middle Earth. Lately I've only been getting ideas in Middle Earth and not in real world, so for now I'll be posting things like that. If I write enough, I'll open a new book exclusively for these oneshots located in Middle Earth.
Nothing else to say! I hope you enjoy this oneshot.
It was a cold and dark day. The fog in that town of men threatened to descend to such a point that it would blind everyone and turn the streets into a real danger, where only whiteness and silence were the only things that would dwell there. The king under the mountain was lurking behind some bushes, with an ash gray hood over his head, at a strange figure that moved among the shadows of that place that had become so gloomy. A king accompanied by his most faithful followers: his nephews. His blue eyes watched each of the movements of that decrepit creature, who interrupted the silence with his abominable voice speaking to himself while he laughed disturbingly.
Thorin put an arm on his youngest nephew's chest to stop him from walking.
"No, I want to see what he does," the king commented without taking his eyes off the creature, earning a look full of incomprehension from Kili. That being began to quickly search through a pile of leaves, digging in the wet earth with its claws, and grabbing in its hands an object that it quickly stored in its torn clothes, running seconds later to vanish into the mist. That made Thorin stand up startled, since the creature had not given him time to react as he was so immersed in what he was doing, and the king began to run without waiting for his nephews, who followed him, surprised to see such a reaction.
"Thorin! Where are you going?" Fili asked while following in the footsteps of his uncle, accompanied by Kili, but the king began to curse when he lost track of the creature, who had gone into the forest.
"That worm took off with the jewel!" Thorin said with an angry tone.
"How are you so sure this is the jewel we are looking for?" Fili asked, approaching him while Thorin, with his eyes closed, raised his head and took a deep breath.
"I don't know, but they were the ones who stole it and they know the power it contains," the king replied. "Surely they would have it stored in the least expected place, lost in no man's land."
"And what do we do now?" Kili asked, looking at his uncle and keeping an eye on the surroundings in case there were any of those beings stalking them in the distance and listening to his words.
Thorin opened his eyes and decided to look up at the village while he saw that the fog was gradually disappearing, and that small droplets of water descended and fell on his hood.
"Come on, we have questions to answer," Thorin said, starting to walk without waiting for them once again, towards the interior of the town.
They approached a busy tavern and, after looking into each other's eyes, decided to enter.
"Excuse me, could you help us?" Thorin asked as he reached the bar where the innkeeper was preparing some drinks. When the innkeepet looked away from the jug he was filling with a golden liquid, he looked into the eyes of those little men."What do you want?" asked the innkeeper as he handed the jugs to his clients, somewhat suspicious of seeing dwarves in those lands. Thorin soon took out from among his clothes a map with several places marked.
