When the circle of flames finally disappears, the ground beneath our feet disappears as well. Opening our wings, we try to get our surroundings when a giant drumming noise becomes louder than seeing a small plane heading right for us.
Gasping, Goliath moves in front of me, pushing me out of the way making me spin in the air till I get it controlled seeing my dad next to someone else.
Flying back up to meet them, the guy looks at me and then at my dad, saying, "You know, old boy and madam, that could've been a bit nasty."
"You saved my life," my dad says, making me look at him, realizing he just tried to save me too. "It was supposed to work the other way," he mumbles but judging by Griff's face, he heard him.
"Think nothing of it; I always hoped there were other gargoyles about," he says, looking at me now. "You look like Scottish stock to me," making me smile. "Come to help with the war, have you?"
"You could say that," my dad says, glancing at me, "good show, they call me Griff," He says, holding his hand out to my dad. "I am Goliath."
Griff looks to me, holding his hand out, which I take, giving it a shake. "I'm called Delphi."
Griff smiles. "That ma'am is a beautiful name" he brings my hand to his mouth, giving it a light kiss before giving it back, making me blush a little
"I've got some friends I think the both of you simply must meet."
once we make it to the roof of the shop once more, now 50 years in the past, Goliath stands behind the wall slightly more in the dark, pulling me with him.
"I can see how you look at Griff; the Answer is no," he says, making my mouth hanging open "I do not know what on the god's name you are babbling about."
"I mean," I continue. He is a very handsome gargoyle, I've never seen one with feathers for wings, and the green color really does soot him. not to mention I have a thing for creatures with Bea...
"Una, Leo, Look who I found," I hear, seeing Griff point to us ending our conversation; my dad and I slowly walk out of the shadows making the duo look very confused.
"This is Goliath and Delphi; they have come from far away to help," he says, smiling at me making me smile back.
"Pleased to meet you," my dad says, which slightly sounds forced, but I smile, shaking their hands. "It's been a long while since I've seen other gargoyles.
"Likewise," Leo says, "Any friend of Griff's is a friend of ours" I glance at my dad, who looks a little sad, which I could understand why. The amount that these two had aged mentally and physically from when we met them is a lot for a gargoyle. The loss of Griffin their life really broke them.
Going inside, they tell us to make ourselves at home; Una makes some tea, and my dad and Griff sit at a table in the back while I look at the magical books and items on the shelves.
"This shop has been in our clan for generations," Griff says proudly as he takes a cup of tea from Una.
"Though with the Blitz," Leo says, looking at us, "Who knows how much longer it'll be left standing."
Una hands my dad a cup of tea which. He genuinely smiles at her and says his thanks.
"I'm afraid we can't offer you sugar," she says, making me turn to them. "The war, you know."
"there is a great deal of hardship, then?" My father asks, making me raise an eyebrow at him. Does he not remember me reading to him about World War 1 and 2.
