Authors Note: Hello everyone, I know I have been gone for a while, but life is crazy; I was in a car wreck today, which made me get stuck in college station and the time to write this chapter. I hope everyone is doing good in quarantine and school, and hopefully, I can update more frequently with the semester being halfway over.
You think that being a creature that can see the future, you would see unexpected things that will happen, but that's not the case. Sometimes you're just blown away by the things that happen like everyone else. That's the downfall of being mortal; things are surprising and new.
Listening to Tom explains what had happened since the others, and I had turned to stone has brought back memories and pain from the past. Now, all we keep moving forward.
"We owe you more than we can ever repay," Goliath says to Tom, making me nod my head since he took care of the eggs and had risked his life for our kind.
"I still don' understand," Elisa mentions to Tom while wiping her eyes, making me also look at her, "how you could have lived back then and still be here." Taking a deep breath, Tom collects himself looking at the black-haired women "time passes differently on Avalon, for every hour spent there, one day goes by in the real world. I returned every 100 years to see if You'd awakened, Goliath and Seer."
"Magic works a little bit different than the normal world does," I tell Elisa looking at Tom "the rules of my visions consistently change and grow with age and energy, so the same could be said for other magical items even if it may be an island. I also go by Delphi now" Tom gives me a smile seeing how happy I am with a name and an identity other than being the seer.
"You spoke of the archmage," Goliath says, pushing his face together to make a confused look on his face, "but he died before you were born."
"Nevertheless, he lay siege to Avalon. We must get back before the sun rises there," Tom says, still steering the boat, making me have a weird feeling. "That must be the reason I felt a weird shift in the balance in magic."
Bronx starts barking, making everyone turn our head to the front of the gondola; I begin to see a mass through the fog as if for the first time, my vision is finally clear. The gondola shits against the shore, letting all of us step off with Bronx sprinting through the beach, making Elisa chuckle, "Bronx likes it here."
"He's found the eggs," Tom remarks, making us look up, my eyes widening; on the cliff, in clear view, three gargoyles stand healthy and young; I gasp, putting my hands to my face. This is the first time in a century new gargoyles and a female to be exact. We're not alone anymore.
The purple, blue and tan Gargoyle circle us then land, running up to Tom excited, welcoming him with a free hug showing how close Tom is to these new gargoyles, making me smile and see that humans and gargoyles have a good relationship now.
The purple gargoyle now walks up to Goliath, and I "Are you Goliath and the seer?" Goliath nods his head while I smile. "I've heard so much about you both. This is a dream come true." Crossing my arms, wrapping my wings around me, I answer the young gargoyle, "The feeling is mutual."
"Goliath, Elisa, Delphi" Tom, or should I say, Guardian, mentions to us, "This is Angela."
"You've given them names?" Goliath asks, dumbfounded, seeing as in Gargoyle traditions and culture, we don't give each other names Goliath technically didn' have a name till the humans had given it to him after a mighty battle.
"Of course! How else could we tell each other apart?" Angela mentions, which makes me laugh, making Goliath give me a look, but the girl has a point which no one, I guess, wanted to talk about; Brooklyn will think this is humorous when we get back home and tell him.
The Gargoyle Gaberial tells us we should get back to the castle because it could be dangerous though this seems like a peaceful place. Still, if the Archmage is around, then they are right. The Archmage had died when I was too young, and don't remember the ordeal except for the stories that Goliath and Hudson would tell around the fire right before sunset.
"Dangerous? Do you think So?" We hear behind us, startling me, making me grab my boi staff getting in a defensive position, standing taller than Goliath, which in itself is a feat worth mentioning stands, which I presume is the Archmage made of sand. Whatever magic the sorcerer is using is robust, making me off guard slightly.
The sand statue creatures throw a ball of sand at Goliath, knocking him over while also trying to bury him in the sand.
Sand starts to wrap around my legs, scratching my tough and coarse skin making its way up my body along with Gaberial and Angela. Pulling and kicking is no use, though, for the sand is thick and almost stone-like, making it impossible to escape. The sand covers my head till all the light goes dark, making it hard to breathe.
My eyes start to closes as I feel my chest heave for a fresh breath of air, my body pulse adding from the pain in my chest. Suddenly in a split second, the air rushes back, making me cough up the sand, my lungs shaking and begging for a breathe. I look up, being lifted by Tom now standing with everyone seeing Sandmage stand like a tower above us. "Don't crow too loudly. After all, what have you achieved? You beat up a beach. At dawn, you all will die! get used to it." Once the Sandmage finished his monologue, the sand turns to stone, hardening and cracking till it explodes, leaving the pieces around us.
"Frankly, it feels like the other way around. The beach beat us up," coughing up sand; I sarcastically reply to no one since everyone isn't paying attention. "I agree; I don't think we did much beating up," Gaberial says back, making me raise an eyebrow to him, answering my sarcasm.
"Let's get back to the palace before the very hair attacks us, Angela. You take the point."
"Everything changed when the fire nation attacked," I comment, wrapping my now sore wings around me and running my hands through my hair to get the sand out.
We begin walking off the beach toward the cliffside, which now turns into a grassy terrain; I walk next to Goliath and Elisa, which we all lean into each other to murmur since the last ten minutes has been quite an experience. "I know this isn't the time, but I can't help noticing that Angela sort of looks like Demona except her coloring's different. whose daughter is she" We both look at Goliath because I know the answer but seeing both of their reactions is interesting. "Daughters and sons belong to the whole Clan Elisa; it is the gargoyle way" Elisa falls behind with me, looking to me for answers now, knowing I won't be as philosophical.
"He is right," I tell her, sighing. "We aren't told who our fathers or mothers are; the older generation of gargoyles are our fathers and mothers." Elisa nods to me but wanting more "To me, Goliath and Demona have always been my parents, as you would say. They were the ones that raised me. They were the leaders of our Clan, and I had a powerful position to helped the gargoyles and humans".
Elisa nods, analogizing me and my emotions; I told her the most truth I could give; she is right though Angela does look like both, and she probably is their child, but Goliath will treat her like how he treated me the other new gargoyles. We are all his children and Clan.
