Authors note: Hey friends, I know it's been a minute, and I got a super long chapter; I hope you like it and enjoy the show!
"What a beautiful evening"
Brooklyn, the trio, and the rest of the clan stalk their way into the tower, all having cheerful looks, excited to see what the new night will bring and the warm weather we have been having the last week.
Sitting in the recliner that Hudson always sits in, my wings wrap around me with my legs curled under my tail, slightly moving now and again to keep it from falling asleep. Looking up from the book I was in the middle of reading, a small smile makes its way to my face seeing the Red Gargoyle bound toward me with a smile brighter than mine covering his face.
The silver-haired bat boy gently takes my arms into his hands, leading me to stand, setting my book on the chair's lap. My arms wrapped around his neck and under my wings and torso, wrapping his wings around mine.
"And how is my lovely mate this fine night," Red says, heat raising on my cheeks, making me surprised with a more extensive smile than the one on my face at the moment. "your cheerful," I notice, making him laugh a little tucking his hair behind the ear "I slept well, and I'm excited to spend the whole night with you."
The smile on my face falters only slightly as the memory of my vision for tonight plays in my mind, but with the simple movement behind us, the memory fades. Goliath runs off complete his turn tonight in watching my mother though it won't be as successful as he wishes. Hudson takes up his chair, moving my book to the ground with Bronx lying next to it as the now ritual, Angela, sitting on the couch watching the TV. The other two younger Gargoyles stand near the makeshift kitchen where Broadway snacks on a sandwich and Lexington messes with a new gadget that has his attention.
Moving to the other two boys, I lift myself to sit on the makeshift counter we have, taking Broadway's half-eaten sandwich, which brings the teal gargoyle to protest. Smiling, I take big bites out of the sandwich, Broadway crosses his arms as I finish my tastes and try to hand back the sandwich, but he shakes his hairless head, moving to make another one.
"Why don't we catch a movie tonight? "Legion of the night premieres tonight," I say, finishing my sandwich, to which Lex gives him a weird look. "I heard that it got back rates."
"You mean to tell me people didn't enjoy a movie where 'Things get steadily worse when mobsters force a scientist to create cybernetic zombie assassins, '" red comments leaning his back against the counter next to me, making the other two boys laugh a little.
"Sounds like our kind of movie," Broadway says, finished making the sandwich and now excited to eat the thing. "Broads, your kind of movie is with cowboys and westerns," I comment to him, making him shrug, almost eating the whole sandwich, to which My eyes roll, earning a laugh from Red.
"Why don't you two go do something fun, and we'll go on patrol tonight since everyone else seems to be busy," Lex says, glancing at Brooklyn. I raise an eyebrow but shake my head "if that's the case, we can all go on patrol; it feels like I haven't gotten to do something that simple in a while."
"He's right, Del; why don't we go do something fun? Isn't there a fall carnival happening right now since it's October? Why don't we go ride some rollercoasters and play dumb carnival games" Red sets a hand on my back, making me look at him in the corner of my eye, slightly sweating? The hand on my back moves slightly, rubbing circles into my skin quickly, almost to keep himself calm from whatever brought on this sudden aversion. I watched his breathing in the split second since the question was asked. It seems Red is breathing rather complex, meaning that this is making him nervous about asking me to the carnival, even though we've been on plenty of dates and spent alone time together.
