My doctor has told me that I need to slow down start appreciating the little things that are around me. The laughter of a child, the wind as it blows through the park, the fresh smell of coffee from a small shop off of the first street. Little things that make life worth living that's what my doctor told me to start noticing.
She doesn't understand that I did notice them; the act of staying alive, the part of saving the world, time in itself, was more important to me at the moment.
Now that time is safe, that I have a moment to take a deep breath, I'm starting to notice this small thing again. Like Brooklyn bringing me flowers after sundown or the nights where we stay in and catch up on star trek tv shows and rewatch star wars.
Or when we go on late-night flights and the slow progression to walking on the beach again after so many drowning incidents. Small things include getting to work at the police department again and continuing my photography art.
I sat at my desk Near Elisa back in the Police department's crime unit; the chief was very understanding, surprisingly at Elisa and my absences, and welcomed us back with open arms.
"Here you look like you could use this"
I look up seeing Elisa holding out a cup of coffee, making me smile "the little things right," I say in my mind as she sits down next to me, "how're the sessions going?".
"It's been a long process, but Doc says I'm showing I'm showing improvement, I'm feeling like myself again," I tell her, drinking from the steaming hot coffee setting it back down on my desk, looking at the reports from a new case on Dracon.
"Is that the new Dracon case?" the raven-haired women ask as I nod. "I've been trying to catch up on old reports and cases to see what we've missed, but this keeps coming in."
"it seems there are rumors that Dracon has a Chopshop where they're dismantling car parts and selling them on the black market," I tell her, pulling up Tomas Bord file. "Look Brod moved his operations to here in new york, at this rate we're going to have a turf war on our hands."
"has anyone mentioned this in the files," Elisa asks, worry laced in her voice, we look at the files at the same time. "No, Frankly, I think I'm the first to notice."
"We need to tell the chief."
We meet the chief in her office, showing her the evidence I had collected as she takes a minute to gather her thoughts.
"Captian, we need to investigate this more; Dracon will not tolerate Brod stepping on his toes; this is extremely dangerous to villains in the area."
"Elisa, we'll get the information you need to go undercover," Cheif says as she hands her a file then looks to me. "I know you've gone through a lot recently, and you're completely not available at night, but if we could get any assistance at night it would be greatly appreciated."
"I'll see what I can do but during the day, you have me at your disposal," I tell her as she nods and we get started.
Over several weeks, I help Elisa Infiltrate Brod's crew while I stay on the sidelines and help with the surveillance at night. After seeing Puck and the others switch between humans and their proper form so effortlessly, I think it would be about time to take control over this curse puck put on me.
"Hey," Brooklyn says as I sit on my bed as read several spellbooks looking up. "Whatcha working on?"
"you're not gonna like it," I tell him with a smile as I show him the spell I was studying as he reads it with a frown "you wanna be able to control when you turn human?"
