Chapter 34

•Saturday night•
It was almost time to go to the party but Ethan & I decided to go an hour later than it said on the invitation just to be "fashionably late".
After a while, I started getting ready.
I did a dramatic smokey eye look & my face makeup. I straightened my hair but slightly curled the ends to have it flowing out as soft curls. I put on my fancy, purple dress. I put on my heels & sprayed perfume & packed my clutch.
I heard a honk outside & it was Ethan & his mom to take us.
I grabbed my coat & headed out.
I got in the car & we drove off.
When we got there, we saw that everyone was already there.
Before we went in, I looked at Ethan & he looked amazing.
We looked good together.
I held Ethan's hand. And he kissed my cheek.
We walked in & we noticed we walked in during Alexa's grand entrance.
Everyone looked at us but I didn't care. As long as Alexa didn't get her way.
Grayson was next to her being her escort.
"Oops." I said sarcastically to her.
She looked angry.
I rolled my eyes & walked with Ethan to our table & sat there.
I looked at Grayson & he looked so hot in the tux & everything. It reminded me of the day he came to Cali & we went to the White Ball.
After Alexa's grand entrance, everyone came up & complimented me on my dress & complimented Ethan.
As I talked to other people, Alexa came up to me & said,
"Hi, Gaby &...Ethan."
We smirked to her.
After a awkward pause, she said,
"Gabriella. May we talk for a sec?"
I got up & walked to the corner of the room.
"What do you think you're trying to do?" She asked.
"What do you mean, Alexa?"
She looked at me.
"Stealing the spotlight from me on my special day is so low."
"Okay, first of all. I was running late so I didn't mean to just walk in. And second of all, I'm sorry that you're jealous that I got the attention more than you, even in your own party."
"Look...you're just lucky I'm wearing a dress & heels because if I weren't we would settle this right now."
"Ha! Like as in fighting me?!...And you say I'm the low one."
She scoffed.
"I am running out of patience. I only invited you because of Grayson. And tonight is going to be special for me & for him. Because I finally got him. And you lost him."
I rolled my eyes
I quickly looked over at him on the other side & I caught him staring at me.
I looked back at Alexa.
"Well...don't hold your breath on that, Alexa. Things can change." I said & walked away.
She walked towards me & followed me.
"If you do anything, I'm gonn-"
I turned around & got in her face.
"Gonna do what?! Huh?! Hit me with your stupid sweet 16 crown?! Ha."
"I will put you through the same humiliation."
"Okay. Good luck." I said & officially walked away.
As I went to get soda I saw my friend Rylie, that was on the cheer team.
"Hey." I said to her.
"Hi, Gaby. You look gorgeous."
"Aw. Thank you. But you look fabulous."
She giggled.
As her & I did small talk I noticed she kept looking at Ethan at the table.
I turned around to look at Ethan & then I looked back at her.
"You like Ethan?" I asked her.
"What?! Um...no! I was just-"
"No. Don't worry. C'mon I'll introduce you guys."
"Aw. Gaby, you don't have to. He's yours."
I looked over at Grayson.
"Not for long. But you should talk to Ethan."
She nodded.
I brought her to the table & introduced her to Ethan. They seemed to get along & they had a nice connection.
I stood up to fix my dress when Grayson came up to our table.
He talked to us for a bit.
But then Grayson, put his hand on my butt. He rubbed it. No one saw.
Then before he left, he put his face by my neck, which gave me chills & whispered in my ear,
"Meet me by the halls of the bathroom in 5 minutes."
I looked at him. And I felt the craving that I did when him & I first met.
I nodded.
He walked away.
A few minutes went by & I stood by the snack table & then later I started walking towards Grayson.
When we finally got together, Alexa's mom came up to us.
"Grayson, do you know where's Alexa?"
"No. I haven't seen her in a while. Why?"
"She needs to cut the cake now! Please go look for her. She's maybe out in the halls by the bathroom."
"Yeah. I will." He said.
Alexa's mom walked away.
"Come with me?" He asked.
I nodded.
As I was heading towards the bathroom, Rylie came up to me,
"Gaby, do you know where Ethan is?"
"No. Wasn't he with you?"
"Was! But Alexa took him to the side & they headed towards the bathroom."
"Alexa with Ethan?" Grayson said confused.
"The bathroom?" I said.
Grayson, Rylie & I headed towards the halls of the bathroom.
As we got closer I heard smooching noises.
We found Ethan & Alexa making out by the bathroom.
"Alexa?!" Grayson said.
Alexa pulled away from Ethan.
"Grayson...I was just. I." Alexa said as she stuttered trying to find an explanation but was failing.
Grayson, Rylie & I just looked at Alexa.

Oh-uh. Looks like Alexa's sweet 16, isn't so sweet anymore. Just make sure to leave room for some cake.
