Chapter 35

Gabriella's POV
Ethan looked at us,
"I didn't even know what happened. One second I was with Rylie talking, then Alexa comes over & drags me here & starts kissing my cheek & stuff." Ethan said.
I looked over at Grayson.
"So? Why were you making out with Ethan?!" Grayson yelled to Alexa.
"Yes, Alexa. Why were you making out with Ethan?" I said sarcastically.
She gave me a mean look.
"I was trying to put you through the same embarrassment. I was trying to make you look stupid." She said to me.
"By kissing my boyfriend? Really, Alexa? Because...the only one that looks dumb here, is you." I said.
Grayson looked at Alexa & said,
"Okay. So I guess it's only fair to make you look stupid too."
He grabbed my face & crashed his lips with mine. Our lips moved in sync.
I couldn't remember the last time I felt those lips on mine.
I kissed him back.
We pulled back.
Grayson looked at Alexa & scoffed.
"We're done, Alexa."
Alexa got upset.
"Grayson- no." She said.
He walked away.
She looked at me.
"Congratulations. You got what you wanted." Alexa said.
I smiled.
"Thank you. And happy birthday. I hope this is one to remember." I said.
Alexa rolled her eyes & left back to the party.
I looked at Ethan.
"I think we should talk." I said to him.
Rylie walked away to the party as well.
Ethan & I headed outside & sat on the steps.
"Look...Ethan. I'm st-"
"Still in love with Grayson. I know." He said finishing my sentence.
"I can tell by the way you kissed him back." He added.
I looked away.
"I'm so sorry, Ethan. I never meant to hurt you. I just tried to do the right thing."
"I know you did. You tried to protect my feelings & I can never thank you enough for not breaking my heart. But...I feel like I've held you hostage from the person you truly adore, which is Grayson."
"What are you trying to say?" I said.
"I'm willing to let you go, just so you can be happy with Grayson. Because trust me no one loves you the way Grayson does."
"You would really do that?"
"Yes. But no matter what, you are still my friend."
I hugged him for a bit.
"Thank you, Ethan."
"Go get Grayson."
I smiled.
As we got up, he said,
"Also...thank you for introducing me to Rylie. She's a really sweet girl."
"She is. You should talk to her. I heard she likes you."
"Really?"
I nodded.
We walked in & I sat back with Ethan & Rylie.
As we all talked, a slow song came on.
Ethan asked her,
"Wanna dance?"
"Sure." She said.
She looked at me as she walked to the dance floor.
"It's okay." I mouthed to her.
She smiled & danced with him.
I sat there & watched everyone dance.
But then I felt someone tap me on the shoulder.
It was Grayson.
"May I have this dance?" He asked.
I grabbed his hand & we walked to the dance floor.
As we slowed danced, I said,
"I'm sorry about today."
"Why? Today was perfect."
"You & Alexa?"
"We're done...You & Ethan?"
"We're done."
He nodded.
"But we're not." He said as he kissed me again.
We pulled away.
"It's been so hard not being with you for so long. I couldn't stop thinking about you." I said.
"It's normal to not forget your first love...I haven't forgotten about you." He said.
I smiled & hugged him.
"You're mine, okay? You've had my heart since day one & I'm sorry for anything I did to hurt you. I know it was all so new to you at first because you were so pure & I'm glad I was able to finally be part of you."
"You always will be." I said.
He smiled.
We danced that night away & after so long, I was finally with Grayson.
It all seemed so perfect.
It was destiny to have met Grayson.
And there's nothing more to ask for.
