Reunited
It has been three years since your best friend left, heading off to other countries to solve crimes, with his dependable caregiver Watari.
The first time you saw him was when you first arrived at the orphanage when you were six. You had been curious about the dark-haired seven year old that sat by himself, nearly hidden in the shadows of the building.
Watari had seen you looking at the boy and told you not to bother him unless he approaches you.
The first time you met him was three weeks later when he beat up a bunch of kids that had been bullying you, because of your timid nature.
You befriended him, and L found that he liked having a friend, and in turn, he taught you how to defend yourself against kids who would try to attack you.
You eventually found your feelings of friendship for the sugar loving boy change into more romantic feelings.
(Flashback)
You had been depressed when you found out that he was leaving. The 18-year-old detective was going to the U.S. for his first major case.
You were holding back tears as your fears flashed before your mind. You asked him not to leave you behind, and confessed your feelings to him, and how you were afraid to say anything before because you didn't want to jeopardize your friendship. Now you feared that you would never see him again, and that you would go your separate says without L ever knowing the truth.
He had pulled you into a hug, the first one he had ever initiated. He told you that he loved you as well, and that he would never truly leave you.
"I don't want you to come with me because it will be too dangerous for you (Alias). However, that does not mean that I won't miss you, because I will. But don't worry. I will return to you someday, when it is safe for us to be together." He promised you, sealing his words with a short but meaningful kiss.
(End flashback)
You both kept in contact with each other, engaging in a long-distance relationship, you trusted each other to remain faithful so it didn't matter that you weren't in the same country.
You were both rather antisocial, only feeling completely comfortable with each other, so it hard to believe that either of you would meet someone else.
Now it's March 2003, and you were on your way to the airport to pick up L and bring him home.
Watari would have to drove him to Wammys, but he had to finish some stuff up with the police before he could return, so L was on his own.
You made it to the airport and texted the detective, so you could let him know you were there, and to find out what terminal he would be at.
However, the man you found at the airport was not the dark-haired man you were expecting, but the kind hearted man who had saved you from a life on the streets.
Watari greeted you and apologized for leading you to believe that you were picking your boyfriend up.
L was waiting for you somewhere else, and Watari was driving you there.
The place was your and his favorite cake shop, a cake shop you two always set whenever you had the chance to go into town.
Not only was it one of the best cake shops, it also had private rooms for parties or a small get together.
L was in one of the private rooms, coffee and sugar in front of him, holding a dessert menu with the tips of his fingers.
He looked up when he heard your giggle. He gave you a big smile as he stood up and walked over to you.
You noticed that while he had gotten taller in his years away, he hadn't otherwise changed.
He still wore his simple white long sleeve shirt and jeans, and beat up shoes, which he was barely wearing.
His hair had gotten longer, but was just as wild as you remembered. His eye bags had gotten darker.
He never could sleep when you weren't around. When you were little, he'd always sneak into your room after curfew, and even when Watari found out, he didn't do anything to stop it.
He only moved you up to L's floor, since L was the only child with a room up there.
You asked Watari about his reaction once, and the older man merely told you that if it got L to sleep for a while, he would allow it.
You were brought out of your thoughts when L pulled you in for a hug, his long arms holding you close to him.
You returned the hug, telling him how happy you were for him to finally return.
He led you to the table, where you sat and talked until the waitress brought your cakes.
He told you of his travels, countries he had been to, and the various treats he was sure you'd enjoy, and he told you about the cases he had solved.
You, in turn, told him about the cases you taken on as Simone and Lena. Yes, like L you had multiple detective names too. While L's were the top three detectives worldwide for murder and kidnappings, you specialized in missing people and cold cases.
You also told your boyfriend about new kids in the detective program, and how Near and Mello were doing.
Shortly after that, the two of you left the restaurant, and Watari drove back to the airport so you could get your car.
L rode back to Wammys with you, and you simply enjoyed the peacefulness of finally having your boyfriend back.
When you arrived, the boys were the first to notice, and they jumped on L as soon as he walked into the orphanage.
L just shrugged at you and smiled softly at his successors. You tilted your head towards the elevator that would take you to the floor that you and L shared. He nodded to show that he got your message.
It was only 20 minutes later when you heard you door open and close, and the soft sound of L's bare feet shuffle towards your spot at your desk, where you were finishing up the report for your latest case.
You felt his long arms wrap around you, as he read your report. You heard the door open again, and this time it was the clicking of Krissa's heels. Krissa was your assistant, similar to Watari for L. She was the one who was always bringing you coffee and snacks, a mix of sweets like L, and salty snacks like chips or crisps.
You thanked her as she wheeled your snack cart beside you, two cups of coffee on the top, along with L's sugar bowl.
Sipping on your coffee, you saved your report and sent a copy to the printer in Roger's office for his files.
L helped you stand up and led you outside to watch the sunset on the rooftop.
You smiled as you laid your head on his shoulder, and he wrapped an arm around your waist.
"I love you (First Name), and I promise that the next time I leave for a case you will be with with me."
"I love you too Lawliet, and I look forward to going new places with you. Maybe someday you take me to the countries you've been to, so I can try all of those desserts you were telling me about."
"Sounds great to me. "
And that's how you spend your first night of being reunited with your boyfriend, the World's Greatest Detective.
