Prompt: Everyone is born with a birthmark that they share with their soulmate. Each pair is unique. Your birthmark is a star in the color that matches your soulmates eyes (I'm basing his eye color from the picture from when L is meeting the taskforce, and telling them that justice will prevail, which show black with grey outline)
It was a quiet day at Taskforce Headquarters. Nothing was happening in the case, so Ryuzaki gave everyone the day off to be with their families.
You were the only person here with Ryuzaki because your family lived on the other side of the world.
Sitting in front of your laptop, you were typing up some of the remaining files in order to have back up copies in case something happened to the papers.
Ryuzaki had tasked you with this job, but he wasn't telling you what he was planning to do with the digital copies.
You glanced over at the young detective, as he typed away, before reaching over to the empty snack tray beside him.
The dark-haired genius looked over and pouted. You had to hold in the giggle and turned away before he caught you staring.
When you had first agreed to meet with L, you hadn't expected to meet someone as young as you, one of the youngest members of the police force. You entered the force at the same time as Matsuda, but where he was happy and full of energy, you were calm and logical. Much more like the mysterious detective.
You watched him as he got up with the tray heading to the kitchen for more sweets.
You were the only person who wasn't unnerved by the man. It was obvious that none of the men liked him, looking down on him because of his disheveled appearance, his cool logic, and especially the way he worked.
You didn't mind any of that though, you thought he was cute. All your life you were surrounded by perfectionists, who spent several hours working on their physical appearance, fixing their hair so that it looks perfect, and applying so much makeup you couldn't even see what they really look like.
You were the black sheep of the family, choosing your education over your looks. So having someone here who didn't spend hours worrying about their looks was like a breath of fresh air.
He didn't seem to care what people thought of his clothes or his hair.
You were brought out of your thoughts when you heard a crash in the kitchen, followed by a shout.
You jumped up and rushed to the kitchen to find Ryuzaki on the floor, the left sleeve of his shirt ripped with a little bit of blood soaking through.
You helped him up and led him to the monitor room, carrying a med kit.
After helping him get the shirt off, you focused on disinfecting the cut before wrapping it up. You both went back into the kitchen to clean up the mess.
You swept up the mess on the floor while Ryuzaki wiped down the counters. While the two of you worked, he explained that he was trying to reach for the box of cookies at the back of the cupboard on the top shelf. Not being used to stretching his back out, he lost his balance.
You waved him off after he had finished, telling him to go ahead and grab a new shirt. You looked up as he moved away. You froze as you noticed something on his right arm.
"H-hold on Ryuzaki." You called out just before he left the kitchen. He glanced back at you in confusion.
"Is that a birthmark?" You asked, staring at the star that was the exact color of your eyes. You had long since thought that your star birthmark was in his eye color, a little grey outline with black inside.
"Yeah, I was born with this star. Watari told me that my soulmate would have a star in my eye color. Why?"
You stood up as he turned to face you, obviously wondering what you were doing. You lifted your shirt up to show your left side, where your star birthmark could be found.
You watched his face as he gazed at the birthmark in surprise. You waited nervously as he froze and waited for him to unfreeze.
After what felt like forever, but was probably only a few minutes, you lowered your head and pulled your shirt down. You started to walk past the detective when you suddenly felt a light grip on your wrist.
You stopped as he moved in front of you and gently lifted your face to look up at him.
"I've been looking for you for so long. I feared that I would never find you. I'm just surprised that the beautiful (First Name) (Last Name) is my soulmate." He explained softly. You blushed and averted your eyes.
"I'm not beautiful Ryuzaki. I don't even bother with my appearance." You replied. He brushed your cheek with his thumb, causing you to look back up at him.
"You don't have to. You're the most beautiful person I've ever seen."
You smiled up at him then, before leaning up to kiss him.
"I love you L."
"I love you too."
