Dreaming

The first thing she noticed when she was waking up was that she wasn't in her bed.

The bed she was lying in was the most comfortable bed she had ever been in. The bed was the perfect blend of soft and firm. The sheets felt warm and soft.

This was nothing like her bed at home, so where on earth is she?

She opened her eyes and realized the ceiling was different too.

"Good morning darling." She heard a very familiar voice coming from somewhere in the room.

She sat up, and turned and found her favorite anime character crouching in the middle of the floor. A computer in front of him.

"Good morning." She greeted him back, trying to figure out how he was real.

"Are you okay? You were tossing and turning a lot last night." He asked her, sounding concerned.

The truth was, she was very confused. How was L real? How was he here with her? How did she end up in this bed? What was this place?

Was she in the Death Note anime? If so, how did she get here? And where in the timeline is she?

A better question was is this was real or is it just a dream?

There was a brief moment where it felt like the world froze. Her mind filling in some information. It was over almost as quickly as it began.

"I'm alright. I just wished you were in bed with me." She stated, making L give a quiet sigh.

"I know I promised to sleep last night, but I got sidetracked with work. I'm sorry."

She gave him a soft smile and got out of bed, sitting beside him on the floor.

"It's okay. I know how focused you can be when trying to solve a case." She hugged him and gave him a kiss on the cheek that made the sugar addicted man smile.

She stood up and went over to the closet, looking over the clothes she had to wear.

At least the clothes that were on her side looked like things she would normally wear.

She selected a sapphire blue top and a pair of black jeans.

She made her way through what she now realized was L's headquarters building.

That means that Light and Misa were currently innocent. Though she, like L, knew they were guilty.

But how does she prove it?

She was deep in thought as she passed Mogi and Masuda. Masuda greeted her enthusiastically, and she greeted him in return.

She was also greeted by both Yagami men. She greeted them without even thinking about it.

"Anything new today?" She asked as she logged onto her computer. It was just a brief thought that she questioned how the men knew her name and how she knew the password to her computer.

Is all this her normal life then? It wouldn't make sense if it wasn't.

"Nothing new since we had to quit the NPA." Mr Yagmi stated.

"Other than those two criminals L brought in." Light muttered under his breath.

Those two statements gave her a lot more information than either man knew.

For one, it told her it was early October, based on the timeline in the anime.

The men had to quit the NPA on October 2nd. The 'criminals' Aiber and Wedy were introduced to the task force on the 7th of October.

That meant today was October 8th. The day Matsuda would break into the Yotsuba building.

She knew this had to happen, because it led L to the group that Kira was part of.

Matsuda would have to break in and overhear the men talking about killing people.

The entire situation happened just as she had expected. Leading up to Misa getting the interview and Masuda having to fake his death.

(Time skip)

It was October 24th, and she was driving Misa to the Yotsuba building for her interview.

L had asked her to take over as Misa's manager. This had surprised her, since Mogi was supposed to be her manager after Masuda faked his death.

It was the first major change from the anime.

The second came while she had gone to the restroom while Misa was in the interview.

The Shinigami, Rem came to her instead of her former Death Note holder.

The Shinigami told her about Light and his plans, unaware of the fact that she already knew.

Rem asked her to get Misa away from Light. She knew that if she saved Misa from Light, she'd save Watari and L.

When she left the bathroom, she ran into Higuchi. The current Kira. They started talking, and she ended up agreeing to a date with the man.

L was both impressed and concerned when she told him about the 'date'.

She promised her boyfriend that she would be careful and she'd stay safe.

The so-called date went exactly they way it did in the anime, apart from the disguise part.

She had Rem kill a person to get the man to trust her and reveal he is Kira. She had used her phone to record his confession, just like Misa had.

Everything went the same way as before, except that she was the one to grab the Death Note. She tucked it under her shirt, making sure Light didn't get close to it.

She handed it over to L that night for him to go over.

She walked into the monitor room to look for her notebook when she noticed Light's watch.

She checked the cameras, and found the suspect asleep in his bed. It surprised her that he had taken the watch off, let alone left it in the monitor room. She used her knowledge from the anime to open the secret compartment and remove the paper and the needle.

She heard the very familiar laugh of Ryuk the Shinigami.

"I certainly didn't expect this. I expected Misa to find me first. Who would've thought it would be the girl with no name." Ryuk said as she stared up at him.

She returned upstairs to the bedroom she woke up in. She told L about the watch and how she found the paper inside it.

L was then introduced to Ryuk. L sighed when he realized that Ryuk would be useless as an informant.

On October 29th, she left headquarters once again. This time heading to the woods where Light buried his Death Note.

She brought everything up to the bedroom and once again showed L everything.

He smiled at her and thanked her for all of her hard work in finishing up the case for him.

The next day came and L called Aizawa back in, as the only officer that had access to the building. Then he revealed all the new evidence.

Light and Misa were arrested. Misa was screaming at Light when L showed surveillance footage of Light's activities while being Kira. Mostly that Light had been cheating on her.

There was no denying the number of dates he had been on with girls when he was supposedly dating the blonde model.

She gave a quiet sigh as she glanced over at the detective. He was standing there, notebook in hand. Just watching the two Kiras being arrested.

L was safe now. He was still alive.

That night, L finally laid down beside her. The exhaustion from the case wearing him down. She cuddled up to him, smiling as his arms went around her.

"Goodnight my darling (First Name)." She heard him say, causing her to smile.

"Goodnight, my beautiful L." She replied as sleep claimed them both.

The first thing she noticed as she woke up the next morning, was that she was alone.

L was no longer holding her.

The second thing she noticed was the bed. It wasn't as big or soft as the one she fell asleep in.

Opening her eyes, she realized she was in her room. Her real bedroom. The desk covered in death note merch. The L poster on the wall. The Death Note anime and manga lined up on the shelf.

It was only a dream after all. But it had been a great dream.

If only that dream could have been her reality.
