It's April 18th and things have been going well. Today is the day where Misa will announce herself as Kira.

The only thing that has changed about today is the fact that L and the three taskforce members here are not discussing Naomi's disappearance.

In fact she had decided to visit her mother for a while after helping us set up surveillance. She had to deal with preparing for her fiancee's body to be returned to the US, and returning to the states to tell her would be in-laws how exactly he died.

While L and I knew she would survive, I had doubted we would see her again before we ended the case.

I had to warn Ryuzaki that something was going to happen today regarding the case, but that everything that happens needs to happen. He looked confused by my wording but nodded, nonetheless.

Just as I expected, Watari came in to tell us to turn on Sakura TV and I took a deep breath before moving to stand behind Ryuzaki.

I wasn't about to let Aizawa grab L like he did in the anime. Other than that the day went as I expected.

Ryuzaki ordered for someone to stop the broadcast, Ukita drove to the tv station and died, causing a bit of a panic. I managed to calm L's shaking, and Aizawa calmed when he noticed the effect Ukita's death had on the detective.

Mr. Yagami successfully retrieved the tapes and envelope from Sakura TV. L and I sat down together to watch the tapes.

He sent tape number four to be aired on Sakura tv, and the next day Ryuzaki announces that this Kira is not the one we've been previously dealing with, and that this one seems to be more powerful than the original.

He asked Mr. Yagami it Light could join, and of course, Light states that this Kira is not the first Kira and agrees to write up a response to the second Kira's tape.

It was April 26th and we received Misa's response to our fake Kira. L freaked out when Misa mentioned Shinigami, while the men questioned the eye comment.

It wasn't until everyone left that L sat down with me to have me explain what she was talking about in the tape.

"I already explained how the Death Note works. Well, there are also the Shinigami eyes. They allow the user to see a human's name and lifespan above their head. All they need is to see at least the upper part of that human's face. The catch is that the human who makes the eye deal must forfeit half of their remaining lifespan.

"Light didn't take the deal because he wants to become the god of the world he wants to create and rule over it for a very long time. The Second Kira had no such problem, and they will ultimately use this power to single Light out as Kira. Their Shinigami explained to them that humans with the eyes can't see the lifespan of a human who owns a Death Note, just as a Shinigami can't see the lifespan of other Shinigami."

"The two Kiras are going to meet?" He asked, worried.

"Yes, we can't stop their meeting, but it'll eventually work to our advantage. Once that building of yours is built we will have both Kiras, and with the changes we're making you will live to see their arrest."

(Time skip)

Things have sped up a little since Misa's eye and Shinigami message.

We had been sent the journal page mentioning Aoyama, which led to me spending the day there with Matsuda and Light.

We had also been sent the 'I found him' tape, which led to L sending a message attempting to stop the two Kiras from meeting, even though I knew it wouldn't work.

It's now the evening of May 25th; the day Misa meets Light. I'm watching for the gothic model to approach and am not surprised when Rem noticed me watching. The Shinigami came closer to me, but appeared to be surprised as my eyes followed her.

"You can see me."

"I can. I also know who you are, Rem the Shinigami."

"You are not from this realm." She stated, and again I confirmed.

"I know about Gelus, and I know of future events. Beware of Light Yagami. Misa might believe that she can make him love her, but he cannot love. He plans only to keep her around until he has no opposition. By the end of this meeting he is going to know that you care for the girl and will do what you need to protect her. He will use that to eventually get rid of the detective L, and when you kill L you will die, leaving Misa unprotected. She doesn't need protection from L. She needs protection from Light."

"What should be done then?"

"Misa will have to pay for killing the people on the tapes, but she doesn't need the death sentence. I have L taken care of, I can easily convince him that any of Misa's future behavior is due to Light manipulating her. You don't kill L, I keep Misa from getting the death sentence when this all ends. It's a win-win. Misa is safe, Light is caught and L lives. You don't even have to do anything different, just do as Misa and Light asks. Misa will by caught, and you will take her notebook to Light. Go through with his plan, in the end it will allow us to arrest Light and save Misa from him. It will hurt her at first, due to the fact that she thinks she loves him. This is more common in the human world than you'd like to think. A girl loves a guy even though he is abusive. No, Light will not physically hurt her, but he is emotionally abusive and controls her through her love and worship of him. That can be taken care of, once she is in L's custody, but out of confinement, I can help her through this and help her see that love isn't supposed to be like that."

"Why would you do this?"

"I like Misa when she isn't hero worshiping Kira. I think she could be pretty cool, and nobody deserves to be treated like she will be by Light. Besides, you care for Misa's safety, and I care about L's. Like I said a win-win. If L lives, Misa will too."

"I understand."

I watched as Rem went back to Misa, just in time for Sayu to open the door. I snuck off, heading back to the hotel. Content to know that, at least for now, L was safe.
