I unlocked the front door of our house. Mum and I walked in and she went straight for bed. My dad had left for a business deal, really early in the morning and mum had to get up, too and so she was tired. I was left alone, standing in the middle of our living room. I sat down on the couch, keeping my bag next to it and let out a deep sigh. I had mixed feelings about how my day had went until now and that made me wonder what was about to happen when Liam would come over. I already told my mother about him so, that wasn't an issue. She was glad that I had found someone to help me, so quickly and when she learnt that he's Zayn's best friend, well let's just say that made her have a good feeling about him.
I got up and started cleaning the dining table. That's where I planned to study. Going to my room wasn't very appropriate, I thought. I was setting my books up, just as the doorbell rang. I don't know why but, I started feeling nervous. It was probably because I was scared of making silly mistakes or screwing up. Lets not forget, my impression on him is not only important for our case but, it might also have an impact on Niall. I opened the door and he greeted me with his warm smile.
"Hello there, junior!"
"Hey. Come on in."
We both walked up to the table and settled down. I brought him a glass of water before we began.
"So, which topic do you want to start with?"
"I was kinda hoping, you could tell."
"Well, we can always start with algebra. It's just that First topic of every maths session, isn't it?"
"Ugh. Yeah. Sounds about right."
He laughed at my reaction. "Why? Do you not like it?"
"No, no. It's not that. It's just what you said. It is always the first topic of any maths session which makes it an opener which sucks."
"I'm starting to think you have much more to you than just the new girl."
"Wait till you find out." I chuckled.
There was something about Liam. He didn't make me feel this need to assess the air before speaking. I felt comfortable around him. I felt as if I could be whoever I want and I could say whatever came to my mind without thinking and hed listen to it without any judgement. He radiated a friendly, warm energy and that is one of the reasons that I agreed to him, coming at my home, in just a day of interaction. The other was obviously the Zayn factor.
He gave me a few questions to begin with. As I joined the school in mid term, most of the questions in our class seemed like gibberish to me. The ones Liam had assigned me with, though, were very basic and I solved them in about five minutes. He seemed impressed and that made me feel better.
"Wow. All of them are accurate. I suppose you wont be as tough as the other people who came to me. I literally had to tell two of them that I couldn't continue because the teachers started to think that I wasn't capable enough. I'm not making fun of them but those boys won't study at home so, I had to let them go."
"I'm not bad at it. I just need help. It's a little new for me. Also the fact that I joined late, does not really work in my favour."
"Oh yes, it doesn't. But you seem smart so, it shouldn't be a problem."
"Thanks for the compliment." I laughed a little.
After that, he started explaining some complicated sums and some of them were pretty difficult so in a while, I started to get really bored. My brain felt overloaded and I wanted to call it a day. It looked like Liam had the same thoughts.
