Eyrie

We were seated in Niall's living room. Zayn had picked me and Harry up, Liam had come by himself and the others were yet to arrive. It had only been a week since school reopened and Niall and I were already getting known for being together. Even now, I was sitting beside him and his arm was around my shoulder. Harry was sitting on the other end of the couch while Zayn was sitting on the armchair and Liam was sitting between Harry and Niall.

"Alright so." Zayn cleared his throat, gaining our attention. "I- I need to tell you guys something." he said.

"Are you stuttering?" I asked him with a teasing and amused expression.

"Shut up, Eyrie!" he snapped.

"Oh god. Zayn is stuttering. He's nervous." I laughed and he simply rolled his eyes in response.

"So well, yeah. There's something I need to tell you guys before the others arrive." he started again.

"Others as in the girls and Louis? Interesting." I interrupted, again.

"Eyrie, I swear to god I'll kill you if you continue doing this." he gritted his teeth purposely.

"Okay okay. I'm sorry." I answered, trying to conceal my hilarity.

"So, Lyv and I had been talking normally for a while and well-" he paused for a moment and then continued, "-she asked me out." he finished.

"Holy shit!" I exclaimed without wasting even a second.

"Language!" he snapped, once more.

"I'm fifteen!" I protested.

"I don't give the stupidest damn about how old you are." he said.

"Someone was lecturing me about my words." I made a face at him.

"Lyv what?" Liam asked. His voice was lower than mine. Lower than Zayn, even.

"Yeah, she asked me out." Zayn replied, ignoring me and facing the other boy now.

"What did you say?" his voice came out almost in a whisper.

"I told her yes. I mean, she's great and I wouldn't mind trying it out." He smiled sheepishly and couldn't stop grinning. Even though I was showing a different reaction, on the inside, I was really happy. If it all worked out, they would be happy together because, I know how amazing both of them are. Lyv and Zayn are one of the best people I know and even if the idea of my best friend and my brother going on a date was a little weird, it wasn't bad.

"My boy!" Niall exclaimed and jumped up on Zayn. He was not very subtle about it and ended up knocking both their heads together. They groaned in pain but, laughed it off and pulled each other in a hug. Niall stroked Zayn's hair and pecked him on his cheek, still grinning. That cheeky little thing. I thought to myself, shaking my head in fond.

If I could, I would never leave his side. We had been spending a lot of time together lately and each time, it felt like we were growing even closer. His smile had become a constant requirement for me. His regular compliments were always there to save my day. His voice was a much needed comfort for my heart. I thought quite a lot about how cheesy he was making me feel but, I could not care less. He deserved it. He deserved a lot more than we had reached but, it had only been a few days.

The other three arrived soon, the girls before Louis. We all sat down and chatted for a while. I could not resist throwing a look at Lyv and Zayn, every now and then. Lyv was not significantly quiet but, she was totally blushing all the time. Zayn kept smiling at her but he was definitely doing a better job at being low-key than the girl.
