4| Sleepover
Vante relaxed at the familiar feeling of the wind passing him by, running through his ash blonde hair as he flies through the clear night sky over Seoul. There was no case today, at least no one had reported any fire or unusual observation, where something happened, that could not have been caused by a normal person- meaning a person with no superpowers.
Vante had often questioned if there was someone else besides him and Bunny that is in possession of a superpower, seeing they were the only persons known of having these.
Taehyung was 18 when he discovered his ability to fly for the first time. Quite a story; there was a cat stuck in a tree and he wanted to help them and almost fell and hurt himself. He did not expect to find himself suddenly levitating a few centimetres over the grass, instead of him hitting the ground. The cat had been secured in his arms.
Luckily, no one had seen him at that time, so no one knew who the hero behind the flying power now is. Since then he kept it a secret, told no one about it and trained himself to control the gifted power. Later on he discovered being able to teleport. That was more than surprising.
It was a normal day, when he arrived home after school, finding a packet he did not order on his doorstep. There was no name, or address on it, but a big purple V stretched on the back of it, being the only thing that marked it in some way. Taehyung had shrugged it off, took the package with him, did not open it though and called his neighbours first, asking if anyone of them had ordered a package that did not arrive, considering there was a chance of the delivery service having placed the order on the wrong door step. In the end no one of his neighbors had though.
So Taehyung decided to open it. The box was quite big and heavy, as if having four to five books as its content. However, when Taehyung opened it, the only thing inside had been a purple mask.
And a small note.
Vante,
Guardian of wind and gravity,
you are ready to take the path fate decided for you and face your task as the protector of innocents. He thought it was a joke, a prank, but as he put the mask on for the first time and saw the golden sparks engulfing him, feeling the power and ecstasy run through him, he knew it was not a prank.
It was reality.
Taehyung had at that moment instantly ran to his room and looked into mirror, eyes widening as he looked at himself for the first time. his clothes were exchanged to a dark purple attire, his golden blonde hair turned to the color of ash blonde, his eyes a bright, light ocean blue.
He looks even more beautiful than he does without his costume.
The fact was though; Taehyung was chosen to protect Seoul.
And since then, he did so.
He and Seoul's citizens call him Vante.
Jeongguk was laying in his bed, it was shortly past 9pm and he wasn't motivated to put on his black mask and transform to Bunny today. Shall Vante do what he wants, Bunny won't show up.
Considering he had slept less the past few days due to his secret job, he decided to go to bed earlier today, but his sleep rhythm wouldn't let him and he couldn't even find the will to close his eyes.
Suddenly a thought crossed him- a blonde beauty smiled through his mind, making jeongguk smile too. He sighed softly, realizing how much he had neglected Taehyung these past few months. Evenings at least, then when he wasn't home and outside as Bunny. He and Taehyung used to sleep over every time- like they literally never slept alone.
But Jeongguk can't sleep over at Taehyung's when he has to leave in the middle of the night, so that he can burn another building down. So sleeping over was a difficult topic and for some reason, Taehyung hadn't complained about it, yet. However, maybe it's just them growing up, Jeongguk thinks.
Jeongguk looked to his clock, wondering if Vante was outside right now, searching for the villain.
Villain is such a strong word. Damn. All Jeongguk wants is his fun and to relieve some stress by hearing people cry over their cars and other meaningless possessions. It's pathetic, how people cry over such unimportant things, when there are others, who have lost so
much more.Bunny, villain, bad, evil- or not, would never kill a person, that's something he had sworn to himself. He knows how it is to lose people dear, wether through death or other ways.
A tired sigh left his lips and he reached out for his phone, dialing his favorite person's number.
Vante cursed hearing his phone ring while he was mid-air and he quickly teleported to the nearest rooftop, reaching in the pocket on the side of his right thigh to pull his phone out.
"Hello?"
"Hey, bear, it's me. I wanted to ask if I could come over, sleep at yours- you know, it's been a while."
Taehyung bit his lip, looking around all over Seoul from the top of the building he was on. Everything seemed pretty peaceful and there was no sight of Bunny or anything unusual yet.
"Sure thing, I'm grocery shopping though and might be back late. You have the keys though, just wait for me-
"It's okay, tell me where you are, I can pick you-
"No!" Taehyung shouted, eyes wide, "I-I mean no, I'm not far from home, just wait there for me, you know where the snacks are, bye, see ya!" And he hung up, cursing under his breath, but being happy to finally have a sleepover with his best friend again. It has... really been a long time since they slept over at each others, but Taehyung was glad Jeongguk wouldn't ask him for sleepovers, seeing as he has to leave in the middle of the night and Jeongguk would get suspicious.
But, it seems like Bunny was busy today, he didn't show up or set a building or any other place on fire, so Taehyung doesn't mind spending the night with Jeongguk.
He was actually really happy and glad Bunny wouldn't show up, letting him take his needed rest.
Vante put his phone away and stepped down at the edge of the building, only to keep staying in the air and fly in direction his home. From afar he could see lights of a car pull up in his driveway and he knew it must be Jeongguk. He cautiously hid behind a tree, waiting for Jeongguk to enter with the spare keys he had given him a year ago and then flew down, quickly teleporting behind his house.
Taehyung saw the lights inside getting turned on from the outside and he smiled lightly. Slowly, he looked around, seeing no one there and pulled the mask of his face, his eyes and hair instantly transforming back to their original brown and blonde and his clothes also being back to the usual ones.
He put the mask away and walked to the front door, pulling his keys out and opening the door as usual, as if nothing happened.
Jeongguk smiled hearing the keys jingle and he stood up, running to the door to open up before Taehyung turned the keys.
"Oh hey!" The blond smiled surprised as Jeongguk hugged him tightly.
"Hey, did you buy a lot, I can help you with the griceries."
"N-no it's okay, I was searching for something specific, it wasn't there anymore though." Taehyung stepped in, leaving Jeongguk behind, hoping to not be visibly nervous.
He relaxed though and composed himself. "When did you arrive?" He asked Jeongguk, as they walked towards the couch, where he let himself plop down, Jeongguk joining next to him.
"Actually, just a few minutes ago. Have you eaten yet?"
"Ye, you not?" the blond asked, getting up already.
"Nah, I'm not hungry though, c'mere, sit down, bear," Jeongguk said, patting the spot next to him.
Taehyung squinted his eyes. "You'll still eat something in a few." He ordered, leaning against Jeongguk, an arm wrapped around him. "If you remind me" the raven smiled.
