21| I love you anyways
"He lost his consciousness after I pressed the button and the thing absorbed his powers," Taehyung explained to Namjoon, an exhausted sigh leaving his lips. He worriedly looked at Jeongguk, who was lying in a bed in the headquarters.
Seoul was declared safe, the villain wouldn't be able to do any harm anymore.
All heroes were back in the hideout and so was Jeongguk, not conscious though. The world broke together when Taehyung pressed the knob of the glob, absorbed Jeongguk's powers and then watched him go unconscious in his arms.
Everything is alright though- that's what RM says. It's just that Jeongguk's body couldn't stand the power of the globe and when his powers were getting absorbed, the energy in his body left too.
"When do you think is he going to wake up?" Taehyung asked quietly .
"Might take some time, actually. I don't know."
His heart was aching, so much has been going on and he just proceeded the fact that he was standing on top of a burning building, fighting against the person he loves for his life, now standing next to him being unconscious, after taking his powers away.
"Can I... maybe stay alone with him?" He asked Namjoon, who hesitated. He wanted to watch Jeongguk, see if any side-affects occur, so that he can note them down into their lexicon.
He couldn't say no to Taehyung now, not when he just saved a whole city.
"Of course.. If something happens though, inform me."
Taehyung hummed and watched Namjoon leave the room, before turning back to look at Jeongguk.
His raven curls were sprawled on the white pillow, his already pretty pale skin looked paler than usual, his lips looked dry.
Taehyung felt miserable.
In a way, this was all his fault. What he said had triggered him and being the person Bunny- Jeongguk is in love with, drove him over the edge.
Everything makes sense now and Taehyung feels like the worst human being ever.
For some reason, tears began to form in his eyes. Tears of relieved, as he was so happy to actually have Jeongguk like this right now in front of him. He knows the ravenette is safe.
Things could've ended completely different, Taehyung could've lost his life and Bunny would still be there, destroying Seoul.
Quietly, he scooted closer to the bed with his chair, eyes glued to Jeongguk and his peacefulness.
Taehyung pulled his feet up on the chair, crossing his arms around his legs and placed his chin on his knees.
A thought then shoot through Taehyung and his lips broke into a smile. Vante fell in love with Bunny, who is Jeongguk, who fell in love with Taehyung.
This twisted situation wasn't funny to Taehyung, in case, for some reason it made his heart thumb a little more. Call him a hopeless romantic, or a K-Drama binger, but this was for sure no coincidence.
A small smile tucked on his lips. "You need to wake up, I have to tell you something," he whispered to Jeongguk, who surely wasn't hearing him. He didn't care though.
"You as Bunny... it makes sense now.." he smiled softly. "I feel so dumb for not noticing it; the goddamn bunny smile, your sarcasm, scent, I... I'm so blind."
Taehyung's eyes watered a little. "You were in love with me this whole time, right Ggukie? I'm sorry, I didn't know, but remembering back... you got so offended when I talked about my crush on Bunny. Is that why you came to my house as Bunny?" Taehyung smiled as a tear rolled down his cheek.
"Honestly, firstly, I thought Bunny found out that I was Vante, but then I realized Bunny really did like me. Y-you liked me." A small laugh escaped his lips. "You pretended you knew me for a month, even though you were there my whole life."
Taehyung giggled again. "How did you come up with the first march being your birthday?"
"I'm not mad that you lied to me and that you confessed your feelings to me, without me knowing who you are... you didn't know either who I really was. You knew I was your best friend, but you didn't know I was your enemy when you kissed me. I knew you were my enemy, but I didn't know you were my best friend. We both hid our second identity, because we were scared we wouldn't work otherwise."
Taehyung took a shallow breath. "Once you wake up.. the first thing I'm gonna do is apologize though. You're not a bad person, you're very far from that. Yes, you did some stuff that was unnecessary, but it wasn't you doing that, it were your powers. And I'm so sorry that I took them from you, but I had to do it for you to be here again. I'm also so sorry that I didn't know what happened in the past was still taking such a huge toll on you. I'm the worst best friend ever to not have known about this-
"You're not."
Taehyung's eyes widened as they darted to Jeongguk, who was supposed to be still unconscious, but was now awake, looking at Taehyung. "It was me who didn't open up."
"J-Jeongguk..." The relief that settled in Taehyung's chest by the view of those brown orbs spread through his whole body. "How d-do you feel?"
Jeongguk slowly sat up, his eyes not leaving Taehyung's. "I'm feeling immensely in love with you."
Taehyung's heart jumped. "Jeongguk, I'm so sorry-
"I heard you.." Taehyung's breath hitched a little.
"O-oh is that so-
"Yeah.." Jeongguk breathed out, reaching for Taehyung's hand to cradle it in his own. "You don't have to apologize for anything, bub." Jeongguk's voice was still very tired, quiet and calm.
So unusual, if Taehyung thinks about that this is the same person that tried to kill him a few hours ago.
"You always were there for me and you took care of me, regardless of what I was going through. I never understand how you could keep up with me, when I loath people so much and like to see them suffer-
"Jeonggukie, stop..." Taehyung's eyes softened. "I'm aware of the fact you hate people, but I could never blame you. I know what you've gone through, I could never despise you for that. Besides... you never did something to harm me, you always took care of me too, protected me even-"
"You're talking about Jeongguk though.." the raven haired bit his lip, looking straight into the blond's eyes, "Bunny tried to kill you... I tried to kill you. I harmed you, Taehyung-
"And I love you anyways." Taehyung smiled at Jeongguk's surprised expression, "You didn't harm me. It were your powers taking control over you, but the moment you removed my mask and saw me, you saved me. You could never harm me, even if you wanted."
Jeongguk took a shallow breath. "When I realized you were Vante, I got so scared."
"Why?" Taehyung asked, genuinely worrying about Jeongguk.
"I felt like... I failed you. I failed Taehyung. I loved you for so long, this whole time and I didn't know you were right in front of me every night and I was fighting against you. I was hurting the person I love without knowing it."
"Ggukie, I was fighting against you too, even though I loved you. We both couldn't know." Taehyung softly cupped Jeongguk's face in his hands. "Don't think like that, okay? You never hurt me."
Tears rose up to Jeongguk's eyes and he shook his head out of Taehyung's hold. "I-I saw the 'B' on your wrist, Tae. I marked you and then watched you go unconscious in your own house and I left you on the ground, without caring. Then, I-I almost pushed you down the rooftop. Don't say something that's not true, I hurt you."
Jeongguk held Taehyung's hand in his again, turning it a little to reveal the almost faded mark on his wrist. "I'm so sorry, hyung," he whispered.
"It's okay," Taehyung just whispered softly, before pulling the younger to his chest, brushing his hands through his hair. He was scared to trigger Jeongguk more if he keeps telling him that he doesn't care that Jeongguk hurt him, so he just comforts him. "I'm sorry, too."
