17| He loved me

Taehyung's whole body began to tremble, tears forming in his eyes in disbelief. He took a step back, as he realized who was shown on the screen. His best friend.

"N-no, that's n-not true..."

It all makes sense now. Bunny's hate towards people, Jeongguk not asking for sleepovers anymore and how the villain knew so much about Taehyung without getting to know him. It now all adds up. He was not watching Taehyung for a few months as he claimed. He was watching him his whole life over.

Taehyung felt pain in his chest when a thought strikes him. Jeongguk had suffered more than anyone else Taehyung has ever met and he himself had to watch the young boy break by the hands of others.

But in the end he was the one calling him a bad person, he had fought him this whole time, he was his enemy.

He had broken Jeongguk more than anyone before ever had.

Taehyung felt his bottom lip wobble as he tried to hold his tears back, while his eyes stayed glued to Jeongguk's beautiful face displayed on the panel.

Daring to scroll down with the remote, Taehyung found himself reading the informations the others have collected about Jeongguk. He knew all of it already. It was a simple summary of Jeongguk's life, something Taehyung had experienced with him. Of course he found his own name in these informations too.

Yet one was piercing his heart and had him unable to hold his tears in, them rolling down his cheeks freely. Among all of the information, that Taehyung already knew by heart, one he hasn't come to know before threw him completely off track.

"Romantic feelings for Kim Taehyung"

An unbelieving sob left his lips, as he read that line over and over again. "G-Ggukie..."

Of course... Bunny made it obvious that he has feelings for Taehyung. Whenever Bunny was with him he didn't miss the opportunity to flirt or to come closer. Hell, they even shared a kiss with each other. And Taehyung has fallen for Bunny just as much.

Not knowing that all this time, Jeongguk was hiding behind that mask.

Taehyung clasped his hands to his mouth, heart being about to explode as the realization that he unknowingly had been in love with his best friend the whole time hit him.

He understands. He understands Bunny, he understands Jeongguk. He understands him and why he does what he does.

"It's my fault," Taehyung mumbled and then got up, walking towards the panel. "I'm so sorry, bun," he mumbled. The photo just hurt him more, Jeongguk's bunny smile has always been something so precious to Taehyung.

He first was able to peer his eyes away from the panel when he heard the door crack open and looked at a new face, a tall, broad male with dimples and purple hair. "Hey," he called out and Taehyung wiped his tears away, before responding a quiet 'hi' back.

The male looked at the panel and sighed. "I'm sorry about the situation... We weren't allowed to let you two get involved with us. Bunny has gaping wounds and never moved on. The one who gave us our powers informed us that you two still needed time to figure it out and close these wounds. We couldn't know he would use it against good though. You managed him pretty well till now.."

Taehyung didn't say anything and just looked down.

"I am Namjoon by the way, RM in cover. I'm kinda the leader of us so..." he reached his hand out, but Taehyung's silence made him pull it back and he nervously scratched the back of is head. "I know what you just saw is something that's hard to digest, but I need you to listen to me now."

The blond looked up again. "H-he needed me this whole time and I-I didn't know.." Taehyung fought the tears and took a shaking breath, "He loved me this whole time and I didn't know.." Maybe that was what hurt the most. "He was my enemy this whole time...I was in love with my best friend this whole time... and I fucking didn't know!" Taehyung couldn't hold his tears back- the situation was too overwhelming.

Namjoon gave him a sympathetic look and stepped towards him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry.. I understand this is shocking and probably killing you inside, Taehyung. But you are the only one able to help him. Currently his powers are taking over him, he loves you and you are the one that gave him the last push. You are the only one that can pull him back again. We need you."

Taehyung sighed, the tears slowly stopping. "He took my powers though. I don't have them."

"You won't need them," Namjoon turned to face Taehyung, "your biggest strength is the love between you two. Wether platonic or romantic. You've been through everything together and Taehyung, you were always the only one Jeongguk never lost faith in. You were the only one he relied on. I'm sure nothing about how he sees you has changed--

"I'm sorry, but who are you? You don't know me and you don't know Jeongguk, nor do you know what happened in my house before I lost my consciousness and he apparently got taken over by his powers. His eyes looked dead, void of every emotion. He hurt me and I know that is something Jeongguk would've never done if I didn't hurt him to the fucking core! I broke him- he hates me!"

"That's not true. His powers were already evolving to the extent they have now. He wouldn't have reacted the same way if his powers were normal- reduced to only fire and electricity. And believe me... I know we don't know each other, but I- we have kept an eye on you ever since you found your powers and also know what happened to you... Jeongguk or Bunny would never be able to hate you."

Taehyung found it hard to breathe, hard to think, hard to move. He slowly sat down on the bed he had woken up on, feeling weaker than he ever had.

Jeongguk is the villain.
Jeongguk is his enemy.
Jeongguk is the person he has fallen in love with.

But he also is the person who has been on Taehyung's side ever since he was only a year old, the one who lets him cuddle him in sleep, who forgets his maths book, who lets him take a nap on his lap when he hadn't slept well, who makes the best dumplings in the world, who ditches detention with him, who... has always loved Taehyung, unconditionally.

Taehyung took a deep breath, feeling the confidence run through his veins. He was determined to get his Jeongguk back, determined to save Seoul and do his job as the hero- fight against the evil and win against it. Fight Jeongguk's powers and not him.

Taehyung sat up again and looked at Namjoon, now giving him a firm, determined look. "If I'm going to do that, I need all of you and your powers. What's yours?"

Namjoon smiled relieved at first. "I'm the super brain."

Taehyung hummed, "That's good. Figure something out, so I can reach Bunny without using my powers, because I don't have them currently-

"Wait you wanna do that today?"

Taehyung shrugged. "Two days have passed since Bunny has begun destroying Seoul, I can't let him destroy more than he already has. And by the way, who was the seventh one with superpowers? His name was something sweet-
"Suga?"

Taehyung nodded.

"His power is telekinesis."

Taehyung thought for a moment. "speed, water and ice, elasticity, super brain and telekinesis," he mumbled to himself. "Okay can you call the others together somehow? I think we need to discuss something."

Namjoon was totally stunned by Taehyung and how he handles his situation. He wasn't used to someone guiding him around, but he had faith in Taehyung and in what he was planning. "Come with me, i'll bring you to the main room."

Taehyung took a deep breath. "I can't believe this is happening.." he mumbled to himself as he followed Namjoon out of the room.
