24| Purple

"Ggukie! Wake up!"

Jeongguk jolted awake from his sleep almost immediately when Taehyung's loud voice reached him. "What is?!"

The older gasped once Jeongguk opened his eyes and clasped his hand to his mouth. His own eyes were widely opened. "Y-you too."

"What?" Jeongguk got up to sit on the edge of the bed, pulling his distressed lover on his lap to comfort him. But that's where he noticed it too. "Fuck, why are your eyes purple?!"

"Why are yours purple too?!"

"What?" Jeongguk got up and walked to the mirror. Indeed, his brown orbs were no longer seen, instead they were replaced by a dark purple. "What does that mean?"

Taehyung walked next to him. "I don't know. I woke up and wanted to go and brush my teeth when I looked in the mirror- my eyes were suddenly purple? And so are yours? I think we need to talk to RM, maybe he knows something."

"I don't wanna go back, though.."

Taehyung's eyes softened at Jeongguk's remark. After yesterday where every cards were laid nakedly open on the table, he found himself admiring Jeongguk even more than before. So a cute whine like this has him wanting to coo at him forever, squeeze his cheeks and kiss his nose.

"Trust me, me neither. But we have to find out what this means. We'll go there, get done with this and then leave again." Taehyung had caused quite a scene there the last time as he asked them to give Jeongguk time to recover instead of already presenting his punishment.

Oh no- the punishment.

"W-we had to go back anyways because they have your powers and you still will receive a punishment." Taehyung spoke, the last part quieter than the first one. He doesn't want Jeongguk to receive a punishment, not when he is innocent in his eyes. He doesn't want to see him in any harm.

"It's okay.." Jeongguk sighed, "I just wanna have my powers back." RM had explained that he will find away to reduce Jeongguk's powers to only fire and light, keeping the destruction part away. Sure, he had no power that could destroy everything he touched, but this influence of the will of destruction that was hidden in Jeongguk's natural powers was what made Bunny go crazy. As Bunny refused to deliberately destroy everything, his powers more and more fought for their release.

Taehyung hummed, before hugging Jeongguk, taking the other by surprise. "I was thinking about something last evening.. Once you have your powers back.. let's move out of Seoul and live somewhere else together. I feel like... we need distance to everything and a new start actually sounds nice, right?"

Jeongguk's lips instantly formed into a smile, as he cut away from the hug a little to cup Taehyung's face in his hands. Their purple eyes now reflected each other. "I'd love that."

Taehyung's expression beamed in happiness when Jeongguk gave him a kiss on the forehead and he giggled. "For real? Like... forget the hero-villain stuff? I mean I can't really stop you, but if you proceed, that would probably mean I'd have to fight against you and I don't think I can do that, now that I know that you are you, I mean, I also love Bunny, but fighting against him, I mean you, was something common, but fighting against you as Jeongguk? We never fight, so-

"Breathe, love." Jeongguk chuckled, placing his hands on Taehyung's shoulders. Taehyung looked up to him, purple puppy eyes literally shining. Jeongguk felt his breath hitch for a second. "Fuck, you look so pretty with those eyes."

Taehyung whined embarrassed, his cheeks turning red. "You don't look bad either. Purple suits you."

"Thanks. But to come back to what you said, I don't know.. I know, in the end my powers began controlling me, but I can't decline the fact that in some situations I wanted it to happen too. It felt... freeing, but..." He looked down to Taehyung, who was waiting for Jeongguk to say more.

"... I want a happy life too. Something that will let me forget about the past." He gently brushed a strand of Taehyung's golden hair back, revealing more of his purple eyes. "And I want it to happen with you."

Taehyung closed his eyes, leaning against Jeongguk's palm, bringing his own hand up to place it on top of the other's. "Let's talk about this another time. We should get breakfast and then go to the headquarters. Maybe RM
knows what's up with our eyes."

"Headquarters? Is that what they call
it?" Jeongguk's snorted and Taehyung giggled by that.

"Well, that's how they called it in front of me. We all received our powers at the same day because we all had suffered in the past due to various reasons. They were all invited to that address, but we were left out... because we weren't done with the past yet," Taehyung sighed, taking Jeongguk's hand in his.

Jeongguk gave his forehead a small kiss. "From now on let's just walk ahead. What happened is done, we can't change it, but I really wanna be with you now, Tae. No depressing shit anymore. Just you and me and nothing else."

Taehyung smiled warmly by that. "That sounds great."

Jeongguk pressed a kiss onto his lips. "Should I make breakfast?"

"Can you make dumplings? Yours are so good!" Taehyung mumbled excitedly. The side of Jeongguk's lip tucked up by the older's cuteness, but he frowned once coming to the realization that he always used his powers to
bake the dumplings- since Taehyung likes them more crispy.

"I... actually... I mean, I can try, but usually I'd use my fire.."

Taehyung lips gaped in understanding, realizing he never watched Jeongguk make dumplings, which is strange, since he usually would be with him in the kitchen when he cooks. He probably must have taken action once Taehyung wasn't looking.

"Well, then it's okay. We can also just grab something from Subway on our way there."

Jeongguk pressed his lips together, smiling guiltily, to which Taehyung narrowed his eyes at him. "What's wrong?"

"I can be wrong and all, but I think... that I burned Subway down.."

Taehyung went quiet, staring at Jeongguk.

"I'm sorry? But, maybe I can just improvise? I saw eggs in your fridge, I don't think cooking omelette without my powers is hard.." Jeongguk tried to talk himself out of the situation, awkward chuckles following every word he said.

Taehyung still stared at him, not because of how Jeongguk burned down half of the city AND Subway, but because he... fascinates him. In a way no one or nothing ever did, Jeongguk reached out for his heart and snatched it so sudden. This messed up, but beautiful creature has Taehyung completely wrapped around his finger, making him look past all these flaws. Taehyung never felt the urge to protect someone, but looking at Jeongguk, his childhood best friend, first love- first everything, he and his heart agreed to promise to protect Jeongguk at all cost.

"Tae? You aren't mad, are you?" Jeongguk asked, pouting lightly as he waved his hand in front of the older male. Taehyung got back to his senses and shook his head, a warm smile on his lips.

"No, I'm not. Omelette is also nice. Especially when you make it." He placed a small kiss on Jeongguk's cheek, before walking past him to the kitchen, leaving the ravenette stunned at how Taehyung's mood changed from looking like he would kill him, to looking and talking so fondly and lovely.

Not that he is complaining though.
