"Red eighty...red eighty...seeett hut!" starting Quarterback Quill Madsen called out snapping the ball.Dropping back into coverage the half Irish alpha surveyed the field as his offensive linemen gave him time in the pocket.
Looking to his right he saw his primary receiver was being double covered by two juniors so he turn to his attention to his next option, then his next then his next.
With no good options he stepped up in the pocket to his right, slipping a tackle from a oncoming rusher, and locked eyes with his big tight end and directed him to a open part of the field.
Looking to the spot his qb wanted the big man shrugged off his defender and moved to were he was directed just as the pass was thrown into the air, only to have it snatched out of the air in front of him by a flash of red as Elaine intercepted the ball like a lizard would a fly out of the air.
Tucking it safely in her right arm Elaine maneuvered her way pasted the receivers and offensive linemen who tried to tackle her to score a easy touchdown.
Happy she spiked the ball into the ground as her defensive coach walked over to her in a fit.
"What the hell was that?" the defensive coach asked Elaine.
"I'm sorry?" she asked startled by his tone.
"You had outside containment so you mind telling me what the hell you were doing going inside for that interception?" he asked angry.
"Well I saw the qb's eyes move through the progressions and knew he liked to use the tight end as a outlet when he's in trouble, so I just jumped the route." she shrugged.
"And how the hell could you have known that when you didn't come to the summer camp or let alone played with us before?" he huffed crossing his arms.
"I mean...he's been your starter for the past two years and I've been studying the more well known college qb's whenever I had the chance so it was kinda obvious." Elaine explained flatly.
The man took a minute to take in her words and for the briefs of moments you could tell the man was surprised by her on field intelligence. The only problem was he had already subscribed to being the hardass so it wasn't like he could change his tone despite her "insight".
"Well this is college ball kid. We don't do that solo, lone wolf shit here understand! Now we're gonna run the paly again and we're gonna do it correctly this time." he growled making Elaine squint in confusion.
After being told the play again Elaine lined up in her position in the backfield as as the offense came out of their huddle to meet them.
Seeing the defense line up in a "zone defense " quarterback, Quill Madsen changed the play to a run after bringing his tight end to the right for extra blocking.
Noticing the shift Elaine moved from her position from the offenses high left to line up on the line just as Madsen snapped.
Like a spring Elaine turned the corner and ran at the pair as Madsen turned to hand the ball off to his running back.
Not expecting the rush from the freshmen Madsen tried to pull the ball from the running backs grip only for it fall out of both of their hands as Elaine slammed into the pair at full speed.
Rolling with her momentum Elaine found her feet, located and scooped up the ball and was inches from scoring before a receiver tackled her from behind dragging her to the ground.
