      Jamie didn't call.

     Didn't text.

Hell, none of his family did.

For three days Elaine waited for a response from the myriad number of texts and calls she sent his way, yet he didn't respond.

He and, by extension they, shut her out completely.

Unfortunately, time came when Elaine couldn't wait for him any longer and she had to get back on a flight to Washington State to take her make up tests and play in their upcoming game against the 2-5 Arizona Reds.

She did alright despite her lack of focus.

By the fourth quarter Washington state was up by three and needed one more stop to run out the clock and end the game for good.

Posted in the backfield Elaine watched as the speeding receivers ran their hardest towards their her endzone in hopes of catching their QB's thirty yard hail marry throw.

Unworried, she watched that pig skin fly through the air high and strong. The was spiral perfect and the placement in a decent enough spot to give one of the four receivers a chance at making a play. That was until Elaine, out of sure bitter spite, jumped what seemed to be fifteen feet in the air and spiked that well made ball into the ground like a volleyball player.

With chorus of applause the crowed cheered while Elaine was mobbed by her teammates for the play, but she didn't care. She didn't do it to be a good teammate, hell she didn't even do it to win. She didn't do she knew that they would've left happy and that just didn't sit right with her.

"They deserve to feel as shit as I do." she thought to herself bitterly, unsnapping her helmet and raised it off her head, walking off the field without preamble or ceremony.

She didn't care about anyone or anything anymore. Not after she and her stupid wolf lost everything.

Showering then changing into street clothes she didn't bother waiting for Taejo. He was probably meeting up with his girlfriend anyway so why wait just to get ditched. Or worse, get dragged along as some pathetic third wheel.

"What's your rush Miss Perez?" Elaine heard the distinctive voice of her head coach Marcus Williams call from behind her.

"No rush, just don't feel like celebrating is all." she said, her back turned to him as she bit her lip to hide her annoyance of being stopped from seeping into her voice.

"Yeah, winning by three against a 2-5 team isn't something to be to happy about." he agreed, even though she could care less about the game.

"Yeah." she nodded all the same, turning to face him.

"Listen, I wanted to talk to you about something. You know pick your brain." he said crossing his massive arms.

           "Shoot." she said, interest peaked.

"Well, your performance these last few games have been...in a word...exceptional." he said catching Elaine off guard, "So, I wanted to know what you'd think about maybe try being a starter for a few games."

Elaine was shocked. She had been working her ass off to get a starters spot, to help boost her rep and make it easier for scouts to know her name so she can make the AFL. At least that was the plan, now she wasn't so sure.
