Still forced to sit on the sidelines, Elaine once again watched as Matthews and the defense we're pushed back to their own goal line to then hold off the opposing team from USC in a goal line stand.Down by eight with 1:03 left with no timeouts in the forth quarter Elaine took the field with the special teams unit knowing that they had to get to the kicker and either block or tip the ball to stop them from putting the game out of reach for their offense.
After giving high fives to her teammates and receiving a blatant shoulder bump from her their "captain", she lined up opposite USC's kicking unit.
Lining up on the outside of the formation Elaine dug her cleats into the grass and glared at the USC player that lined up against her.
From his build she knew taking him on head on would be a mistake, so adjusting her feet she lined up much like a sprinter in the hundred meter dash and shifted her position further to her left, just above the USC's players right shoulder.
Flexing her right hand she watched carefully as the crowd cheered in hopes of icing the kicker to force another miss like he already had earlier.
Allowing instinct to take over Elaine's wolf came to the surface and her eyes light up a bright brown as the linemen hiked to ball back to the kicker's place holder.
With blistering speed Elaine sprung off the line to her opponents right before spinning and planting her right foot into the ground as he over committed to the block and streaked to the inside of their formation.
Seeing the kicker's foot centimeters from the ball Elaine stretch out her right arm, falling sideways, in an attempt to block it.
Reaching for all she was worth Elaine felt the ball slide against her fingertips as it was kicked high and far.
Falling on her side the Brazilian alpha heard a loud deafening "GONG" as the ball hit the left upright and fall to the ground.
The crowed cheered as the Rhino's special teams celebrated their successful stop, keeping the game with in reach.
Jogging onto the side line coach Williams gave Elaine and the rest of the special teams a pat on their helmets as the second unit lined up for the kickoff.
Looking up into the stands Elaine spotted Trisha who just shook her head in a 'no way' type fashion as Elaine winked at her, taking a seat on the bench.
Taking a drink of her Powerade Elaine watch the jumbotron as the Rhino's offense slowly marched up the field.
With :45 seconds left on the clock quarterback Quill Madsen surveyed the field.
All night long he and the Rhino's offense had trouble with USC zone defense so they had been relying on the run game and while that was a decent enough counter to their coverage they now had to constantly use the 'hurry up' offense which if used incorrectly would cause an interception ending the game making them 1-1 on the season.
Going through his cadence he nodded his tight end to line up on the line to his left as he snapped the ball and gave it to his running back.
With strong and heavy strides running back Juda Dempsey ran behind his blockers to the USC's own thirty yard line before he was stood up against their defense.
Running up Madsen yelled out "SPIKE,SPIKE" which meant he wanted to get up to the line and spike the ball into the ground to making it second down and ten but the tactic would stop the clock with only :12 left on the clock.
