Jamie nearly had a heart attack when he took the phone away from his daughter.Just when he had his backed turned the little devil had snagged his phone and somehow called Elaine.
Well, that wasn't entirely true...
After making up his mind to stay home from the game, he'd put the two pups to bed and had intended on doing more school work since he yet again fallen behind.
But instead of doing that he found himself digging for something that he hadn't seen or worn in a while.
The three carrot, platinum band diamond ring that Elaine have given him when she was offered the opportunity to go to play at Washington state.
Jamie didn't make to much of a habit wearing it because he was so worried about losing it, so he put it on a necklace and worn it around his neck before he had his pups. He had previously taken it off when they were born because they kept pulling it and almost breaking the necklace so he decided to put it away for safe keeping.
Looking at it's shine he remembered the promise Elaine had made him. That no matter the problems she would give him and their pups a better life. "No matter the trials" she'd said.
So when he put his phone down he had intended on possibly giving her a call but Tony had an accident and he'd gotten sidetracked.
"I guess Ella hit call by accident..." he thought holding the phone in his hand, the ring that he had turned into a necklace in his other hand.
But deep down, he knew on some level he was waiting for a reason to call her. He was just to much of a coward to do it himself.
"Mind telling me why you're not at your sisters game?" Ruth, his grandmother asked, shaking him from his thoughts and walked into the room.
"Hey grandma, I just wasn't feeling up to it." Jamie said putting his phone and ring necklace down.
True to form their grandmother had yet again extended her stay since hearing of Elaine's infidelity. Saying that since they could no longer count on her to provide a future for Jamie and their pups she was the only one who had the time and the wisdom to help him excel at school while also taking care of his pups.
Not only that but she only proved to be more vocal with her disapproval with his parents decisions in how they handled things with their son and his mate that at one point Jamie's parents didn't talk for for at least three days.
At the time Jamie was worried but the two alpha's went to dinner and eventually worked it out and were back on speaking terms again if not reluctantly.
"I can see that." his grandmother said taking a seat next to him eyeing the ring.
"It's for the best. Since Elaine went and cheated on you, you can only rely on yourself and your family to help you now." she said pulling him into a small hug, "I'll be here for you, as long as it takes."
Jamie forced a smile.
He loved his grandmother, he really did. However he didn't appreciate when she took every opportunity to slander or make fun of his mate or mother whenever she got the chance. He especially didn't like it when she started talking about alpha's of high station that had a few unmated sons and daughters that would be willing to take him in as his mate, despite still technically being marked with two pups.
