"The hell she is!" Martha growled, her wolf pacing with annoyance as she sat in her car fists clenched.
After Jamie had come home from his pediatrician he was quick to call his mom to tell her the his pups diagnosis.
While the red headed was worried about her grandchildren, that worry quickly turned to agitation as her mother-in-law had taken the phone away and informed him of her plans of staying longer. To help, "pick up the slack", as she had put it while Elaine was away.
Naturally she was enraged at the woman's overstep but she was able to mask her frustration and said that they would, "Talk when we get home." before promptly calling her mate to unleash all her true unfiltered thoughts on the matter.
"It's not that bad of an idea." her husband said from the phone, his voice soft as he braced for his wife's wrath.
"Not a bad idea? Not. A. Bad. Idea!" she screamed with uncontained fury, " And just where have you been these past two weeks!"
"Martha-"
"No, no, I thought I made it clear." Martha growled through gritted teeth, "She can have the two weeks, I was fine with it. I was fine with her implying I can't do what an omega can do, that I'm a bad mother because I was born an alpha. That she should've stopped you from mating with me and had you mate with that nice little omega pup she had picked out for you!" she ranted, her voice taking on a deadly sarcastic edge.
"She's never said-"
"Everything she does says it!" Martha screamed into her phone, her body shaking with the weeks worth carefully contained rage boiling to the surface like a geyser.
It had been a long time since Martha had been pushed this far by her mother-in-law. In fact, it was one of the many reasons that when her mate had gotten the opportunity to move out of state she whole hearty supported him without complaint.
For a while she was free of the condescension and the disappointed side glances every time they met with his family. For once she could have the close tight net family she had always wanted when she was just a pup.
She was finally happy.
Now she had to re-endure that same ridicule again and again, no matter how many times she tried to workout her frustrations either at the gym , fucking her mate so hard he'd developed a limp or letting him do the same to her, she just couldn't rid herself of the way the omega woman made her feel.
Like a bad mother, like she was inadequate.
"I can't do it, Luther, I just can't." she said letting out a tired breath.
"My Sun, if it's that difficult for you she doesn't have to stay with us. We could rent her a room somewhere and she could stay there." he offered, his tone rational but pleading.
"W-Why, does she have to stay." the woman huffed into the steering wheel, "It's contagious, she can get sick. It makes more sense for her to leave." Martha reasoned, her wolf calming down slightly at the sound of her pet name.
"Because she already has the shot to fight it and I believe Jamie could use the help. I have my doubts that he's as on top of everything as he pretends to be." the strong alpha countered respectfully.
"We don't need her." Martha growled again, "I'm his mother, I can take care of my family without her help. That's my job!" she challenged.
