After having to wait for almost seven months, Jamie was excited to finally watch his mate in a real football game again, and the fans in the stadium agreed.Like a sudden shock of thunder he had to cover his ears as the Rhinos took the field for their first game of the season against the Utah Road Dogs.
The band was completely drowned out by the electric cheers of the crowd, but surprisingly Ella and Tony were completely calm. Granted they were wearing noise canceling headphones to help mute the noise, Jamie was still surprised that the little pups were so unaffected by the people screaming their heads off around them.
"Jamie, they're about ready to take the field, why don't you pick the pups up so they can see her." his father suggested taking little Tony out of his seat to place the little pup on his shoulders while Jamie put Ella onto his hip as the searched for his mate.
"LADIES AND GENTELMEN....MAKE SOME NOISE FOR YOUR WASHINGTON STATE, RHIIIINNOOOSSS!!" the stadium's announcer called as the players stormed the field behind the cheers of the crowd.
"JAMIE! WHAT NUMBER IS SHE AGAIN?" JJ asked as she tried to talk over the crowd noise.
"NUMBER TWENTY FOUR!" he yelled back as his eye's searched the sea of red and grey jerseys for Elaine's number.
"WHAT?" she asked again cupping her ear.
"NUMER TWENTY FOUR, 2.4." Jamie said again louder, holding a two and a four with his free hand.
"TWENETY FOUR, GOT IT." she said with a thumbs up as her eyes turned back to the field.
*
Following a sea of smoke and flaming pyrotechnics the Rhinos took the field in a excited sprint.
Elaine's body shook with nerves excitement as she jumped up and down with Taejo and her teammates as they took the field.
The crowd was electric and the band was on point as she jumped and smacked the teams banner with a howl of excitement as she emerged from the smoke.
It was great to be back.
**
4th Quarter, 1:10 left in the game.
Score 17-24, Utah.
Down late in the fourth quarter Elaine continued to watch from the sidelines as the Rhino's offense stalled in the redzone to kick a field goal making the score 20-24.
Knowing they still had their three time outs head coach Marcus Williams trusted his defense and special teams to force a stall for Utah to give him the ball back with enough time on the clock to win the game.
With a pop of his juicy fruit gum he waved his special teams onto the field.
"Special teams you're up. Get us that ball!" he called out smacking some of the players on the helmets as they took the field.
Strapping her helmet into place Elaine jogged onto the field giving high fives to the kick off unit for keeping it a one score game
Now lined up on the outside of the kick off formation Elaine readied herself as the kicker adjusted the ball in the holder and took his position.
All night long Elaine was forced to watch from the side lines as Utah and Washington state battled it out on both defense and offense.
She had been told by Rose's cousin/ head coach Marcus Williams that he wanted her to focus on special teams and not defense and she understood the decision to do so givin that she was still new to the team, but because of that decision she had only been on the field a total of five times tonight and her wolf wanted to give a good showing for her mate and pups who cheered her on from the stands.
