I let out a cry of surprise, and I reached behind me, frantic for anything I could grab onto. But before I could be dragged out of the car, I felt Annie's hand wrap around my arm in an attempt to keep me from being pulled into the darkness from which the giant hand had emerged.

"What the hell is that!?" she panted in my ear.

"I don't know!?" I replied and dug my nails into the fabric of the seat to keep myself from being dragged further out of the car. But don't let me go, whatever you do!"

"I'm going to try, but whatever the hell has you, its really strong."

As if on cue, whatever had a grip on me, gave me leg a harder tug, and a scream escaped my lips as the joints in my leg popped.

And suddenly, without any warning, Annie's grip on me was broken, and I was being dragged across the ground into the darkness.

"Aur-" Annie's voice was abruptly stifled in the black fog, that quickly engulfed me.

Being in the black fog was not as nearly as frightening as I expected. In fact, it was alway soothing in a way, the darkness seemed so very familiar. What did frighten me though, was the thing that had iron like grip on my leg.

I began to kicked and grab at the giantic hand, the only thing of the creature that I could see. The rest of it was still strounded in darkness, with the exception of two pinpoints of yellow light, that I assumed was this thing's eyes, that would flash at me, as the thing turned around to look in my direction.

"Everlee!" I heard Liam's voice somewhere in the dark swirling mass around me, his voice seemed to be coming from somewhere far away.

"Liam!" I responded. "Help me! Where are you!?"

I let out an involuntary yelp of pain as my body slid over a particularly sharp rock. I wasn't sure thing that had me, but whatever it was it seemed to be just dragging me across the ground in circles, like it itself didn't know where it was or where it wanted to bring me.

"I'm not sure," his voice came from somewhere far above me, "but this spell is bending reality around us," causing us to see and hear things that aren't there. Making people seem close then far away."

"What about feel ? Because a giant monster has me and is dragging me who knows where. If it isn't real, how do I make it go away?"

"By making yourself believe that you made it release you or destroyed it." Liam's voice sounded like he was right behind me. "That's how."

"And how am I supposed to do that !? I'm a Lunera. The only thing I can do is heal myself and apparently I can only do that a couple times without passing out!"

"No, Everlee," Liam's voice now sounded like he was coming from above me now"You can do much more. But you don't know that yet,so  I will  help you, just need to do what I say."

"I'll try!"

"Just imagine you are fire, your body is white-hot light." His voice seemed to come from right beside me. "And whatever holds you, it can't handle the heat you give off!"

Abruptly, whatever had been dragging me suddenly stopped and lifted me into the air and dangled me upsidedown by my feet. Then I was brought forward until a face ,with a long, pointed angular nose with leather like skin and a mouth full of sharp teeth, in black gums, emerged from the black murkiness. I closed my eyes and imagined the air around me warming and shimmering with heat, like the air over a lit fire.

The thing like out a roar and I let out a scream of pain as my skin began to sizzles, and the smell of my hair burning filled my nose.

"STOP!" a female voice boomed and suddenly, I was lying on my back and staring up at  a blue sky.

"Aqua," she muttered suddenly, it was like she had thrown a bucket of water over me, I was drenched.

I coughed, and spat up , while steam curled around my body and the burning sensation vanished.

Rossi, Grayson's Italian witch, appeared above me and leaned over me. Her mouth was set into a firm line.

"What are you trying to do? Bake yourself alive!?"

I stared up at her, wordlessly.

She shook her head at me. "You are not ready in the slightest for the Dark One, so we have no other choice, we must call upon Hecate!"
