"So what do you think of this place? Pretty great, right? One of the perks of being mates is we get to share each other memories. So welcome to the three weeks I spent in Italy."

"Why did you bring me here?" My eyes swept over the scene before me. The waves were gently rocking the numerous boats drifting in the water.

I had never been to the ocean before, at least not at any point that I could recall. The first eight years of my life were a mystery to me, but something was familiar about the salty air drifting off the water.

"I thought this place would be a really good spot for a first date."

I wiggled out of his grasp and stepped away from him. For the first time tonight, I wasn't enjoying feeling his touch. Grayson's jaw tightened but he did not say a word.

So he intended to play with me before he had me killed? Was that it?

"It's really pretty and all, but I would rather you just take me back."

"Why?"

" Because I was hoping that you would leave me alone, so you can find another mate and-."

"Let's make a packed," he interrupted me. "I will leave you alone, as long as you want me to. I won't try solidifying our bond, but only if you meet me at night in the space in-between our bonds. "

"And if I refuse, then what?"

The wind gently ruffled his golden hair and I suddenly wanted to reach out and touch it and run my fingers through it. I quickly looked away.

"Nature will take its course. We won't be able to stay away from each other forever.  At least I won't be able to, especially under the next full moon. And I will claim you."

I swallowed my panic at the thought of him claiming me because if that happened, I might as well dig my own grave. Even if Grayson had no intention of killing me, the Alpha surely would if we were discovered, which seemed more than probable.

"I'll meet you,  but only if you promise that it will help you stay away from me in the real world."

"You'll be doing yourself a favor too, it'll help you stay away from me...But I'm sick of talking about how much our world sucks, So why don't we enjoy a place that doesn't?"

Grayson replaced his arm around my shoulders and turned me away from the blue-green water towards the land that boarded them. I had to tilt my head to gaze up at the cliffs that towered above me. Numerous colorful, rectangular houses dotted them.

"Why are they so many different colors?" I asked,  deciding I might as well enjoy this place if Grayson was insisting I stay here.

"The theory is that the fishermen of Marina Coricella painted them all different shades, so they would be able to recognize them from their boats."

"I like the blue one," I said and pointed towards a house, halfway up the cliff, that had been painted sky blue.

"I like the red one all the way at the top," he slid his hand off my shoulder and grabbed my hand. The tempo of my heart sped up a few beats, while he entwined his fingers with mine.

"Do you want to go see them up close?" he asked. "There's all these cool narrow streets you can walk through. They take you anywhere you want to go."
