—————————————————Grayson was out of the truck before I could open my mouth to speak.
He slammed the truck door with a bang, and I hurriedly climbed out of the car after him into the icy wind, because I had a sneaking suspicion I knew who that "crazy man" was.
While I took my position besides Grayson, I caught a flash of black out of the corner of my eye. And I guessed that had to be Rossi standing off to the side.
I looked down the steep, primitive dirt road. The sunlight reflecting of the patches of barren land was almost blinding and I had to squint my eyes to see, but sure enough, in the distance coming from the direction of the house, I could see a blur of black, white, and gold.
"Your daywalker, I presume," Grayson said cooly from beside me.
I blew a piece of my hair out of my face in irritation. "He's not my anything, but yes that's the daywalker I was talking about."
"Ah daywalker, that's why he run crazy," the other man, Ignis, replied from right beside Grayson. "And Grayson my friend, stop being jealous towards your woman. It ends bad."
"I am not being jealous, I just don't trust daywalkers and vampires. And that's pretty rich coming from you. You tried to kill me when we first met over jealously, remember!?"
"Yes and a good choice I did not accomplish my goal. No?"
When Aaron was almost upon us, he slowed to a walk. From this distance from him, I could see that he was not even breathing heavily, despite having just been running at such a quick speed.
"Aaron," I called when he was close enough that I could see that his eyes were their normal icy blue color.
He stopped a couple of yards from us and looked to where I stood.
Rossi's husband took a threatening step towards Aaron, but Grayson held up his arm, blocking him from approaching any closer.
"Easy Ignis," he said softly.
"Everything okay?" Aaron called.
"Yeah, um this is..." I glanced over to where Grayson stood. "This is Grayson...my mate."
"And these are my two associates, Rossi and her husband, Ignis. They are good friends are mine," Grayson said.
Aaron nodded at him. "I'm Aaron Matters and my master is Sanda. Her colony is located near Red Crescent."
"Well Aaron," Grayson replied dryly and looped his arm around my shoulder, pulling me against him. "Whenever Liam returns, tell him that I have Aurelia and I'll be taking her somewhere safe."
I shook his arm off of me "Since when did I agree to this!?" I asked
"You really believed I'm going to let you out of my sight anytime soon after what just happened?"
I crossed my arms over my chest, "There is something bad going on at Red Cresent. There is an evil force there, and it put up w magic barrier around the pack land. "
"They have slowly isolated themselves from the other packs over the years. They probably put up the barrier themselves."
"No, it's bad. Liam is really worried. It's more than that."
"And did he tell you why he's so worried?" Grayson asked.
I didn't reply because I couldn't explain it. My urgency came from a memory behind a locked door in my mind.
Not a lone down here...
Grayson let out a noise of disgust. "That's what I thought, good old Liam butting others in danger without giving them any information. Why do you care so much about Red Crescent anyways?" he asked. "They tried to sacrifice you?"
"Because it's not just about them?" I replied.
"Why do you say that?"
"I don't know."
"Well in any case,"
Aaron nodded toward me. "She doesn't want to go with you.""I don't think you have much of a choice, daywalker," Grayson replied cooly. "There is one of you and three of us," Grayson replied.
Aaron looked up past us. "Well, there is about to be at least one more of me."
I looked back to the top of the road just as the sound of a car's engine filled my ears and a flash of red appeared in the distance.
