The house was quiet when we entered it. Quiet to the point that it made me feel a little uneasy. I didn't have hearing like a wolf, but my hearing was still pretty good and the house was not making a single sound.

"Aaron?" Annie called out. She began walking from room to room with the paper bag in her hand. One by one she opened each door, while I followed a few steps behind her.

She came to the living room, which sat across from the room Ian and Liam used to share, and pulled it open and poked her head inside. The living room, or at least how I remembered it, was covered in a brown speckled carpet, with three large green couches that surrounded a coal fireplace, and sunshine yellow walls.

I found that not much had changed, except the walls were a light faded, the carpet a little dusty, and three couches were now draped in white sheets.

On the third couch, Aaron laid with his eyes closed.

"Aaron?" Annie walked over to where he laid. She placed her hand on his shoulder and began to shake it. She frowned and she shook him harder. "Aaron??"

Annie's eyes widened. "Aaron!?" she cried and began to shake him harder.

She stopped shaking him and leaned her head close to his mouth and pulled away. Her body began to tremble.

"Oh my god, he's not breathing!!! I need to get him on the ground so I can give him CPR!" tears were now streaming down her face.

I ran over to the couch without a second's more hesitation. I placed my hands on his back and, along with Annie, began to push. He felt ice-cold under my touch.

What if he was actually dead!? And if he was dead, what would happen then? Would he rise as a vampire and if so then what? How would I and Liam deal with him!? How would we deal with Annie!? And where was Liam right now!?

Together we managed to roll him off the couch and onto the ground.

His body landed with a thud on the carpet. The second his body hit the floor, Aaron sprung to life,
much to I's and Annie's collective shock. His eyes popped open to reveal two, glowing red orbs set in his skull.

"What the hell!" Aaron cried and jumped to his feet. By the time he got to them, his eyes had returned to their normal blue, but I knew there was no way Annie hadn't notice them.

"You were dead!" Annie, her words were shaking almost as much as she was. "Your body was cold and you weren't breathing!"

Aaron let out a laugh I'm sure he meant to sound natural but instead came out rather forced. "I was just sleeping, you know that I'm a heavy sleeper."

"What is wrong with your eyes!?  When you opened them a second ago, they were bright red!

Aaron let out a small laugh, "What!? No, they didn't."

Annie backed away from him and turned and rushed out of the room.

In the hallway, I heard Liam's voice, the sound of bags crinkling, and the front door slamming shut. This was proceeded by a car roaring to life outside and gravel under tiers.

"Sh**t!" Aaron cried and raced out of the room at an inhuman speed.

I follow after him to find an empty hallway with our groceries laying on the ground near the door.

So that's where Liam had been, he had been bringing in the groceries from outside.  But where was he now?

Aaron was already out the door by this point and I hurried to the door only, to see he was racing after the red convertible that was tearing up the steep dirt road.

From where I stood, I could see two heads in the front seat of the car. The one in the passenger's seat turned around and looked back at me and I saw it was Liam.

I guess I knew where Liam was now...but why had he gone with her? And why had he left me behind?

It was scary to see how fast he moved. He moved even faster than any wolf I had seen run, and he was gaining on the car at an alarming speed.

But right when I thought he was going to catch up to it, Aaron collapsed to the ground while the car continued its upwards race to the road, and disappeared.

It was only while I watched Aaron pick himself off the ground that it clicked. And I knew why Liam had gone with Annie and why she had taken him with her.

Human mate...What do you think about Annie?... Why did they have to put her in my path?

Aaron was stalking back to the house. I saw that his eyes were once again two glowing orbs of red.

"Where the hell did he take her!?" he hissed and I saw that his teeth had elongated into fans. He stopped only a few feet away from the door.

I swallowed, knowing that he wasn't going to like the answer I was about to give him.
