My first thought I had, while I watched Annie and my brother pull up was ,  "At least I didn't have to have that talk with Aaron anymore."

The car approached us slowly, before stopping all together, and Liam casually climbed out and looked around, while Annie remained inside the car. I could see that she was dabbing at her neck with a paper napkin, where a werewolf would mark his mate, confirming what I had expected.

"Well this complicates things a bit more," he said, while his head moved back and forth to assess the five of us. "Hi Grayson," he said when his gaze landed on him. "I'm assuming that black jeep parked up on the side of the road belongs to you."

Grayson responded by pulling me to him once again, much to my annoyance. When I tried to struggled him off, it was like his arms were unmovable mountain.

Before I could even blink. Aaron was suddenly besides the car and yanking Annie's door open.

She gave him a wide-eyed look, while he bent over and pulled her out of the car by the crook of her arm.

My eyes shifted Liam. His eyes had gained a golden tint to them and were now fixated on Aaron and Annie

"Easy," Liam warned in a low voice, but it appeared Aaron was too fixated on Annie to hear him .

"Why are you bleeding did he hurt you!?"

"I-" Annie began and Aaron abruptly leaned forward and sniffed at Annie's neck

Liam leapt across the hood of the car, and in one fluid motion, placed a hand in the middle of Aaron's chest and shoved him away.

Aaron took a couple stumbling steps back, like a baby deer just finding his footing. When he regain his composure again, his eyes were glowing red.

"Annie," he said in a voice that was scarily calm. "Why do you smell weird?"

Annie took a step closer to Liam and placed a hand on his bicep.

"Because he...marked me?"  Annie looked at Liam for confirmation and he nodded his head. "So I may or may not be a werewolf. But before you start freaking out on Liam, it was my choice!" She looked back up at a Liam again and they both smiled at each other.

Aaron reached up and grabbed a clump of his blond hair in his fingers, his face twisting in anguish. "Annie, do you know what you have just done!? You just threw away any chance at happiness and a normal life! You will never be able to accomplish what you dreamed of!"

"I understand, I understand everything. Well maybe not everything, but I understand enough." I know what you are now. I know what you are and why you couldn't come home anymore. And why you disappeared for so long. I'm sorry you went through that, but it won't be like that for me. I will keep on living my life exactly how I want to live it. Plus or minus a few modifications here and there."

Aaron lowered his arm to his side again.

"Aaron, " this time it was Liam who spoke. "As long as I'm alive, I will care for your sister. I will make sure she still gets to do the things she wants to do."

Aaron's eyes returned to their normal blue.

"Do you give me your word?" Aaron asked.

"I do."

Aaron held out his hand to him and Liam reached out to shake his hand, but Annie quickly pushed it back down.

"He doesn't have to give you his word, because I'm making sure he keeps it! No way is he going to have control over me!"

Aaron lowered his arm and began to laugh, "Yes Annie, no one has control over you. Not since the day you were born

"See look," Grayson said into your ear, "your brother has a mate now which makes him stronger. I'm sure he will be able to handle whatever is happening at Red Crescent. Now let's go, I'm going to take you somewhere safe, somewhere we can be alone. I will make sure no one hurts you ever again."

"No, her brother still needs her very much," Liam said looking as the two of us. "If she is willing to come and help me," he said and nodded towards me.

"I am."

"Aurelia," Grayson said in a low voice. Something in his tone caused me to snap my head around to look at him.  He locked eyes and I could see his were now completely golden. "Do you want to be my mate?"he asked

I stared back up at him. I wanted to go with Liam to fight whatever evil lurked in Red Crescent, but I did eventually.

"Yeah... "I replied and Grayson bent down and sank his teeth into the curve between my neck and my collar bone, claiming me as his mate.
