An; Hey, hey! Welcome back to the story. Thank you so much for the 195 votes and the 1117 reads. Just amazing! So Ummm you remember when I said I was going to change some things...well I changed my mind and decided to keep everything as-is for now. Anyways, I'm resorting to my old Wattpaden ways and holding this chapter hostage, so no new chapter until I get 15 votes. Those votes don't just need to be on this one chapter, they can be on any chapter so I go from having 195 votes to 210. Anyways, hope you enjoy this chapter, shit is about to get real😛
——————————————————-"I don't have time for any more stories. I need sleep, so I'm ready for whatever is coming tomorrow. Hopefully it isn't another day in this glass jar."
I crossed the room and flopped down on the mattress. I grabbed my Parka and pulled it around me like a blanket.
"You asked me how you ended up at Pine Ridge and I told you."
"And you told me a story. And the only part I hope is true is that no one knows I'm alive."
I heard Liam exhale loudly. "Fine, you leave me no choice."
An ear-piercing howl filled the glass box.
I sat up from the floor, while I covered my ears. I turned to look at him. "What are you doing!?"
Liam stopped and gave me a shit-eating grin. "You get to chose between me howling or me telling you the next story."
"Stop that! Someone is going to hear you!"
"No one can hear me besides you, but you won't be getting any sleep if I continue."
"Fine just stop."
"Okay!" he said and took a seat on the ground.
"So, when one has a Lunera child in the Red Crescent pack, your parents have three choices."
"One, you give your child to the Dark One. Most do this."
"Two, you can smuggle them out to another pack to serve as a Lunera there. Quiet hard to do now of days, since the other packs found out about opinion one and shunned us."
"And three, keep them hidden away. And that was the option that Laurie's parents chose to take. She is...was my mate."
Liam closed his eyes and inhaled deeply.
"That morning after leaving you, I went home to a father that killed my mother and tried to kill my little sister. I had to put you out of my mind, and protect the only family I had left with me, Ian. He was only 6, and I guess seeing father drop you down that hole messed him up...because he just wasn't right in the head afterward."
"So Ian is my younger brother? I remembered you mention him ..." I trailed off.
"You mean the other story you don't believe?"
I looked at him without replying.
" Thought so. I will tell you about him, but not now. Anyways, just because my focus was on him, didn't mean you had drifted from my mind. As the days went on, I would find time to go to the forest and call out to them over and over again, until my voice was gone. I wanted to know if you were okay. No one answered, and I began to think I had dreamt it all. The cabin, you, the green light, running across the night sky. I know now they were silent because I wasn't ready for their call. I had to lose Laurie first."
He took another deep breath. "The first time I saw Laurie, she was picking flowers in broad daylight in the forest. She later told me she loved pressing and framing them on her wall. She liked looking at something that had spent its life outside."
"Laurie's father was our ground's keeper, and his wife worked in our kitchen. Their house was on the very edge of the Alpha's land, near the forest. And every day, when her parents would go off to perform their duties, she would allow herself one hour outside each day. And it was, unfortunately during that hour, I was passing by that particular area calling out to the spirits and our eyes locked. And," Liam let out a small laugh. "we both turned and ran in opposite directions like our lives depend on it. And she does. I ran because I didn't want another person to love, another person to lose."
"But, our mating bond was too strong, and I found myself returning to that same spot. And she was waiting for me there...and I'll spare you the details but we left there as mates. And that's when I found out the truth about her, that she was a Lunera."
"And later that week, I decided if we were to have a future together, then we would have to run away. I took some cash from dad's safe and planned to cross over the border to Canada and disappear into its wilderness together."
"But Laurie... I still don't know why she did what she. Because that night we were supposed to leave together, she wasn't where we agreed. And that's the first time since that awful night, the spirits finally spoke to me, and told me where she was."
"It was a blur my run to that placebut when I got to her, she was standing at the edge of that hole, where He lives, a lantern in her hand . And she...turned to me with tears in her eyes. And told me that I must save the other Lunera's and that this was the only way I would and she jumped into the hole. And just like that, she was gone, and the voices of the spirits were back in full force. And they said..."
Liam grew silent and trialed off.
"What did they say?" I demanded. I couldn't explain it but for some reason, my heart was filled with unexplainable dread.
"They told me to go find the sister that I lost. And to bring you back to the Red Crescent pack. They told me to...."
