It was a slow day. Sundays are always slow, and the fact that the weather was cold and wet, people are probably snuggled in their sheets tuning in for the next episode of their favorite tv show. Sam was starting to lose his mind. Don't get Sam wrong, he loves it here. Loves the repetitive motion of purging the steam wand, stamping down the coffee grains, and watching as the coffee grains turn into liquid. It's calming, and the smell of coffee and croissants is also a bonus. With a sigh of boredom, he walks out from behind the counter and starts to wipe down the tabletops. Just as he's on his third table, the door opens with a ring. "Good evening!" Sam starts with a warm smile, a tall blonde man and an equally as tall brunette stand in the doorway. The blonde one smiles in greeting and walks to the counter.

"Hey, what can I get you guys?"

"Uh, can I just get an iced coffee, please?" Sam nods, ringing it up before waiting for the other man to say his answer. The brunette's eyes widen in surprise, obviously having thought his blonde friend would've answered. "Can, I uh, get just a chocolate frappe... please?" He answers timidly, and Sam smiles encouragingly.

"Of course, that'll come to $15.50. Would you like any food with that, or are you all settled?" Sam asks, his eyes widening slightly when the brunette makes eye contact with him. He looks sad, a look in his eyes that simultaneously tells Sam everything but also leaves more questions behind.

"Can I get your names for the orders, please?" He asks with a stammer, sighing in frustration. Outside the rain continues to fall, the soft pitter patter of rain hitting the glass windows, a soothing balm for whenever he's having a speech delay.

It rarely happens now, but still, sometimes it comes out of nowhere and makes him look like a complete idiot. "Uh, Steve," the blonde man replies, looking at his friend. Giving a small, secretive smile that makes Sam feel like he's intruding on something important. "And, Uhm, Bucky." He murmurs, hiding behind his curtain of hair.

Sam finds it both adorable and pathetic, in a way that tells Sam he's seen shit no man has. "Of course, shouldn't be too long, go have a seat, and I'll call your names when it is ready " With that, he spins on his feet and heads over to the coffee station, preparing their orders when yet another customer comes through. Looking up, a sense of dread falls heavily in his stomach.  In front of him stands Jacob, a sneer on his handsome face.

"Jacob..." he says with a growl, lips turning into a frown. "What? No kiss hello?" Sam scoffs, turning back to get Steve and Bucky's order started.  "As if I would ever kiss a pervert like you!" He retorts, feeling uncomfortable at the way the main trails his body, almost as if he is undressing him in his mind, the thought makes him sick.

Their little interaction doesn't seem to go noticed as both Steve and Bucky stop their conversation to watch the pair closely. "Seriously, Sam? I make one little fuck up and you act as if I am the scum of the earth!" Sam scoffs again, his kind features twisting into a sneer. "You call ruining my life a "little fuck up"? The way you continued to touch me after me explicitly stating that in no circumstances are you to touch me, yet you continued to violate me. I had to go fucking therapy for a week straight because of your God damn immaturity!"

Just as Jacob goes to reply, the pair of men walk over to Sam's aid, Steve weaving in between the two and Bucky watching the man with a heated glare. The blonde one raises his hands placatingly. "Look, how about we leave the man alone and you just go on about your day?" Steve suggests. The man, Jacob, takes one look at the furious brunette beside the blonde and nods, but not without winking at Sam who's busy trying to get his breathing under control before he sets himself off. As soon as the man leaves, both of them turn around.

"Are you okay?" Sam nods with a grateful smile despite the tears welling in his eyes. "Yes, thank you. Uh, here's your drinks." He continues with a sniffle, unable to handle the absolute sincerity coming from the two men.

After that day, the two men start to show more frequently and Bucky, who Sam soon later finds out is called James starts to come more out of his hollow shell, a spark in his eyes that wasn't there before makes Sam feel proud of him. The warm, fuzzy feeling Sam gets whenever he sees the two starts to twist into something more profound. Two weeks into knowing them, Sam is head over heels for not only Bucky, but Steve as well, and when he finds out they're ex-soldiers, it makes Sam like them even more because he has something else he can relate to.

Two weeks then turn into a month and Sam still hasn't confessed his feelings. The hope of ever getting together with them starts to dwindle when he finds out Steve and Bucky are dating.

Yet, one day they bully him into a corner and confess to him and Sam starts to tear up again because they like him as well. It's then that he also tells them about his feelings and in a blink of an eye he's getting kissed until he's breathless.

What a way to go though, right?
