When Sam came home, he didn't expect to find Bucky waiting outside the door with a look that could describe anxiousness and first, Sam got worried, because Bucky rarely shows anything other than his cold exterior but then he noticed his arms behind his back.
Interesting.
"Hey, Buck, how are you?"
Sam watches in amusement as the man struggles to find the right words to say, a blush creeping against his cheeks. It's an adorable sight.
A sight Sam's snatching it and locking it safely in his mind.
"I'm uh, good. I was, just, uhm, dropping these off." He says with a nervous smile before thrusting a bouquet of flowers in Sam's unexpecting hands. Sam looks down in surprise, before a large smile breaks out onto his face.
"You brought me flowers?" Sam asks, his cheeks starting to hurt from smiling too hard.
God, who knew his class mate could be such a charmer? Well, Sam always knew he was a charmer, wrapping all the kids around his finger with just a compliment and a smile.
"Yeah, don't get used to it. It's one in a life time chance."
Don't be like the others. Please.
Sam wasn't like the others though. He was kind and considerate of other's feeling. Putting himself in other's shoes before saying his thoughts. He was unusual, and he caught Bucky's eyes.
Sam brings the flowers up and breathes in the scent, humming in content, the sound echoing in Bucky's mind.
"You know these are my favourites, right?"
Bucky didn't know it at all. He just chose what reminded him of Sam and the nicest looking flowers he could get, him liking it was just a bonus. "Thank you, I appreciate it." Sam says, not thinking properly when he gives him a peck on the cheek, only realising too late.
He jerks back in surprise, his mouth moving rapidly.
"I am so sorry! I wasn't thinking properly it's just, I was really happy that you just brought me flowers and they my favourite but I am so sorry-"
"Sam. It's fine." Bucky interrupts, smirking that sexy smirk he has. It makes Sam breathless for a moment, a lump forming in his throat.
"It doesn't bother you?"
"I've kissed many guys, gals, others. A peck on the cheek is nothing."
Sam doesn't know why but he feels disappointed with the fact, there's no denying Bucky Barnes is hot, it is a reason why he is after all the player of the school.
"Anyways, I uh, wanted to ask you something."
Sam raises a brow.
"Sure?"
"Would you like to go out on a date with me?"
Time freezes. Is this actually happening or is this some sick prank?
"Is this some joke, Barnes?"
Bucky shakes his head, his eyes wide and sincere.
"No, uh, I actually mean it. Though I would understand why you wouldn't want to go out on a date with me, considering my reputation and uh, maybe I should just leave, enjoy the flowers!" He rambles, going to leave when Sam calls his name gently.
The Barnes boy doesn't dare to turn, too much of coward to face the boy of his dreams. It was true.
Sam was everything to Buck, even if they don't hang out together and fight like cat and dog. Sometimes, he gets envious. He gets jealous because of how perfect Sam is.
"I wouldn't mind, but we can't tell my parents. They're not really fond of... Uh, people who are gay, and stuff." He mumbles and Bucky nods.
"7 pm tomorrow?"
Sam smiles.
"Can't wait."
Bucky worries his bottom lip between his teeth before smiling, walking back on his feet before spinning around and as soon as he leaves Sam's sight, he jumps up down in excitement. Running home with the biggest smile on his face.
He hopes he doesn't mess this up.
