Everything around him was a blur. Bright and beautiful colours all faded in the background. The moon was beautiful as always, his wings glistening in the soft glow.
Today, he felt off and as he sat on a rock, listening to the crystal water run down and into an ocean of dark midnight blue. It was serene. It put him in tranquil like state, blissful at the peace he can finally have. Fireflies had buzzed around him as the crickets chorused together.
Something was missing though. A certain dark brunette with saphire blue eyes that turned into waves crashing against the rocks when angry, he doesn't know why though.
He's been feeling a bit peculiar if he were to be honest. As the soft blow of the wind caressed his dark feathers, he smiled when another presence was felt.
Something so beautiful and innocent it made the man envious. Sure, he was once an angel but he had been tossed away when he made one little fuck up. It wasn't his fault, really. He was just wrong place, wrong time.
"Do you ever stop brooding?" When the Demon looks up, he can't help but smile.
"I'm a demon, it's kinda my thing." He replies, looking back over the sparkling water. He could hear James sigh beside him before the sound of shuffling alerts him of the Angel sitting down.
"Isn't it past your curfew?" Sam asked, his heart warming up with false hope that Bucky had snuck out to hang with him.
He was disappointed when Bucky replied. "No, God has me down here for some angel stuff." Before Sam could speak though, a twig snaps.
His head snapped towards the sound.
A sudden uneasiness filling him.
Their surroundings has gone silent, the fireflies still fluttered about but the crickets that sung have silenced.
He stood up with a slight growl, ignoring the flash of worry his friend sends.
The feeling he got was unnerving.
There's only a few people who know about this place, that being James and Rogers who was also a fellow angel of Barnes.
Sam sees movement in the corner of his eyes and barely has enough time to call out to James when his world goes dark.
The next time he awoke, he wasn't at the lake. He was in some sort of cell, shackles bounding him right to the wall.
He could easily break through him but everything was fuzzy. His breathing was shallow as he tried to get his mind to work. It felt like he was walking in sludge, impossible to move and fucking tiring.
He tenses when he heard a silent whisper.
"Are you a demon?" The voice sounded youthful and Sam was filled with rage. Sure he did some nasty shit but he draws the line at harming children.
"Yes."
"D-did you come here with an angel?" Who was this kid? Why was he asking such questions?
"Yeah." He croaked, his throat stuffed with cotton.
"They have him..."
Sam grows tense, eyeing the child sceptically. "Who has him?"
"A human. He's not fond of angels and demons..."
His hair was messy as big puppy brown eyes stared at him in child-like innocence.
"Why are you here, kid?" He asks, a small frown tugging at his lips when the boy shuffles around. Right, he's gonna find this fucker and kill them, slowly. He'll watch with a sinister smirk on his face as he watches the life drain from their eyes, struggles stopping abruptly.
God, he could just imagine the satisfying crack of the person's windpipe, eyes bulging out like a cartoon.
Then, he would discard the body, leave it out for the world to see or maybe, he could leave it a cold case, then chop the body up into small pieces and feed it to a dog-
"Do your wings hurt?"
Sam blinks for a moment, his eyes zoning in on the child. He looked about 10 possibly 12.
"Sometimes. What's your name?",
"Torres." He mumbles and Sam's shoulders sink.
"How long have you been here, Torres?" The demon asks, his wings uncurling in a stretch.
"I don't know, I got taken by the man. He stole me away from my family." Tears had welled in the boys eyes and Sam's heart aches.
It happens in a blur, one minute Sam is tensing and then next he's holding the boy in his arms. His wings curling in a protective like manner.
Torres starts to cry, clutching onto him like a life line.
"Don't worry, Torres. I'll get you back to your family. I'm sure they're waiting for you."
He can feel the boy nod but then something bangs on the cell, snapping Sam's attention away from Torres.
He snarled at the sight. A man stands at the gate, a barely conscious Bucky hanging limply. "What the fuck did you do to him!?" He screams, rage blinding his emotions and clouding his vision.
The man smiles, blonde hair and blue eyes staring him down with malicious intent.
Before Sam could do anything though, the Angel is getting thrown in here like nothing, his body crumbling to the floor like a sack of flower. Sam scrambles over, dragging his friend as far away from the gate as much as he can. The man smirked before walking off.
"Bucky, you with me still?"
Before Sam can say anything else, a hand is wrapping around his throat. Sam could hear a small cry from the boy, loud and clear over the buzzing in his ears. He could feel his chest tightening and his pulse racing against the hands latched around him.
His wings flutter around.
His head was going underwater.
He really didn't want to do this. He couldn't stand the thought of hurting someone he holds so close to his cold heart.
He's whispering a sorry before bringing his knee up and kneeing him in his crotch.
Sam, using that distraction, flips the angel over and slams his skull against the cement.
