Chapter 27

I was starting to sober up. Logan had brought me to his place, sensing that I did not want to go back to my apartment any time soon. When he thought I was not looking, he had sent a text to Kayla to tell her I was with him. Sitting on his cosy couch in one of his shirt and Mark’s shorts, I felt more like myself. Logan had made me some coffee and helped to get my dirty clothes washed.

“What happened?” Logan asked, running his fingers through his hair in agitation.

I just stared at my mug, not wanting to remember. “How did you know I was there?”

Logan sighed. “I got a call from Mark. Apparently, that Tanya girl you called your friend was actually trying to drug you. And that men you danced with was in on it. Don’t even ask me how Mark knows this people.”

Cold fear gripped me. “Oh.”

“Yeah, oh,” Logan agreed, the venom thick in his voice. “What were you thinking? Getting that drunk?”

“I wasn’t really thinking...” I admitted softly.

“Do you know how much in danger you were in?” Logan demanded, his voice getting harsher.

I looked up at him meekly. “I’m sorry.”

He groaned in frustration and ran his fingers through his hair. “That jerk was thinking of very inappropriate things that he wanted to do to you. Did you know that?”

I swallowed. Logan’s anger was making me uneasy but I found it strangely arousing. I must still have some alcohol inside my system. “How would you know what he’s thinking?”

“Oh, I would know,” Logan said, giving a cruel laugh. “Trust me, I’m a man too. And you dancing like that with the clothes you had on. It gives all the invitation a man needs.”

My eyes grew wide at his words. “I had on a shirt and jeans!”

Logan’s blue eyes were taunting. “You were in a tank top, Julia.”

“I had to take my shirt off. It was dirty. I spilled my beer on it,” I fought back. Who does this guy think he is to judge me?

Logan gave a short angry laugh, turning away. He went to the kitchen to pour himself a drink. He still had a hard scowl on his face when he returned to the living room. Placing the mug down, he paced the floor.

“I’m sorry,” I apologised.

Logan’s head snapped up to look at me. He was puzzled but glad with my apology.

“Thank you for coming to pick me up. I shouldn’t be arguing with you,” I murmured.

He let out a deep breath and came to sit next to me, watching me. “It’s okay.”

“I was just so mad,” I admitted, frowning. “This night did not turn out the way I wanted it.”

“What happened?” Logan inquired.

I sighed, snuggling into the couch, wanting some comfort. “Let’s just say I did a huge mistake and I might have lost the one person who means the world to me.”

Logan’s blue eyes softened at my trembling voice. “It’s going to get better, Julia.”

I felt my eyes starting to sting. “It hurts.”

Logan’s eyes grew wide at my distressed face. Scooting closer, he just pulled me in tighter, hoping to stop my body from shivering. I clung to his shirt and felt the tears threaten to fall. Angry, i pushed myself away from him. He watched me, shocked. I stood up and paced in front of him. I ran my fingers through my hair.
