A few weeks later, I was leaving. It was sad but necessary. Many came to see me off. There were Anakin, Ahsoka, Padme and Obi-Wan, Yoda, and three Clones as guards. I had said my goodbyes to the masters of the Jedi Temple the day before as I finished what I needed to learn from them.
"You will be careful, will you?" Padme said.
"Yes, I will, thank you for everything," I said.
Padme hugged me tightly but not as tightly as I did. I tried so hard not to cry. But many emotions simply swirled inside me.
"Once you have all cleared you are welcome to come back and maybe then I might actually hire you." Padme tried to encourage me.
I smiled at her words but deep inside I knew it won't happen, not according to vision.
"I agree, once you got enough information about your visions, even if it's only the second one, do come back. Maybe we can find a solution to your riddles and do something to prepare." Anakin said.
That too won't happen. Though I haven't seen every detail, I know that there is no preparation for what is to come. But I nod to him.
"I hope we might see each other someday," Ahsoka said.
"I hope so too," I said.
I hugged her too. I'm so close to crying. But I have to keep it in. I will see far worse things in the future whether it is in my vision or for real. But not seeing my friends will not be the worst. At least I can have a small hope that someway and somehow they will survive.
"Rex and the guys will be sad that you leave," Ahsoka said teasing. "They need a new good luck sign."
I chuckled at that comment. When I paid a visit to the command center to get information, either for Padme's notes or about my people. Rex made it a joke that if any of the soldiers saw me before leaving for another mission, they had luck with them or they will get back alive. So far I haven't heard of anyone dying after seeing me, so maybe it worked. Or it really was a joke Rex made. Either way, many were happy to see me there, though just briefly. And yes, they still remember my tale as "the Terror of Grievous".
"Tell everyone I'll miss them. And that they do their best and look out for each other." I told Ahsoka.
"I will," Ahsoka assured.
"May the force be with you, Mir'aida. And may it keep you safe from harm." Obi-Wan said.
"May the force be with all of you," I said and made a curtsey.
It was a habit that my mother had taught me since I was very small. It was the proper way for all women of our clan to greet, show respect, and salute anyone. I tried to learn to bow instead of curtsying as many did in Coruscant but in the end, Padme said that if it was something my people did, I should stick to it.
"Time to go it is. Stay safe, young one." Yoda said to me.
I made a curtsy to him as well before I lifted my bag to my shoulder and boarded the shuttle that would take me away. I waved one last time to them before I entered the shuttle. Ahsoka waved back, while others smiled after me. I was sure that that would be the last time I would see them. I didn't know that I was only half right.
"Where is she going?" Anakin asked Yoda when the shuttle was preparing to take off.
"This shuttle will go to the mid rim, and there she will take another to the outer rim," Obi-Wan answered on Yoda's behave.
"A Jedi temple at the outer rim there is. Safe and quiet place. Just what she needs. Belong to Neutral system it does." Yoda said.
"That is good to hear," Ahsoka said.
"Yeah, it is," Anakin said as he watched the shuttle rise to the sky and soon disappear into space.
The journey was long but I got to my destination without any complications. Not only was the temple at the outer rim, but it was also on one of the most secluded planets. It belonged to the Taris system. Unlike Taris, this planet was small and had not so many inhabitants. There was one abandoned temple and that was my home for fifteen years. Taris had a long history of battles with Mandalore, Jedi, and Sith alike, but it was this planet that worked as a small rest place for the Jedi. The temple wasn't exactly a temple, more like an old base after the Jedi tower was lost. But according to Master Yoda, it was a perfect place to hide since it now was part of the neutral system and almost nonexistent on records. Simply put, there was almost no one there. Besides me and the twins who looked after the place. They were Andra and Ensinon. They were humans and welcomed me kindly to their home. I had been there for almost a year when it happened.
One night, all three of us felt that something was wrong. But I did not only feel it, I heard it and saw flashes of images. All the deaths of the Jedi who were either at the battleground or the temple. The twins didn't know yet that I had the gift of visions but they knew something was wrong. The sensation ended quickly but the sounds and visions remained for the entire night. I was hit with fewer and I was bedridden for a week. During that time Ensinon had visited Taris with his small ship to get some provisions. He had there heard that Republic had now become a Galactic Empire. And all the Jedi were declared traitors to the Empire. And when he got back to us he told the news. I told them the reason I was sent to this secluded planet. All they asked after the explanation, was if any Jedi survived the destruction. I told them that some may have survived but where they are is beyond me. So Ensinon made two decisions. First, though the planet was secluded and very little was about it in the archives, all three of us had to have emergency bags ready. Just in case the Empire's troops would come and find us and we had to leave immediately. Second, if some Jedi does come to us for a safe place, we had to prepare a safe hideout for them. We decide to use the cave that was a speeder ride away and along the river that was some way from us. Getting our bags ready was fast and easy. The hideout took a few weeks to prepare but it was done quickly. What was hard, was remaining in the temple waiting for anything to happen. No one came to our small secluded planet.
Ensinon and Andra took turns going to Taris from time to time to get provisions and more news. The empire was expanding, and many systems were now either under it or declared enemies which quickly ended in that system becoming part of the Empire. It took some years but soon Taris was under the Empire government too.
To keep us busy and distracted from the turbulences of the outside world. All three of us began to do inventory work at the temple when we could. When we didn't, Ensinon would fix his ship and Andra would grow food for us. And I began to embroider tapestries. We all needed our own little projects. I also practiced the dancing and songs of my people and re-recorded them on a new book Padme had gifted me as my goodbye present. It was a bigger and stronger book and I could record not only the songs and dances I had before but also other information about all the clans.
Visions didn't stop. Sometimes I saw visions of the past, taking me back to my family and friends spending the night around a fire. Sometimes the past showed me the truth that was hidden at the moment. As who was truly behind the massacre of my people. It shouldn't have been a surprise when I saw a man wearing a dark cloak ordering Count Dooku to eliminate the nomads who had a history of helping the Jedi and who lived in the Separatist territories. When visions showed me the future, I tried to calm myself whenever I saw people who I once knew. But I also tried to pay attention to people I knew I hadn't met yet. For over a decade, I was living peacefully with my two friends in this abandoned temple that used to belong to the Jedi. Until the problems arrived.
Part 1 ends here. Part 2 will be about rebels. Yes, this will be a long story.
Hope, you like it.
