Time passed from days to weeks. And many things changed. Thrawn wanted me near all the time. When I didn’t come to him, he came to me. As he recommended, I began to learn Sy Bisti, and it really did benefit me. As I learned more about the language, I could also recall the situations when elders used that language. Speaking the language was a challenge and Thrawn didn’t make it easy as he was the one forcing me to speak it.
Sy Bisti wasn’t the only thing he taught me, and I would have preferred to leave it to that. The other lesson was more unpleasant.
“No more.” I panted holding my upper body up from the floor.
“We are not done,” Thrawn said casually. How I hated that tone. I’m at my limit and he simply acts like it won’t matter. What angered me more was that he spoke in Sy Bisti, forcing me to learn it faster. And even more annoying was that if I didn’t answer or say the things in Sy Bisti, he would completely ignore me.
“Enough,” I exclaimed in that language, knowing that he won’t stop if I didn’t say it in the correct language.
“Enough what?” He asked.
“This. I’m tired and hurt. I… can’t… continue” I tried to find the right words in Sy Bisti. It was hard since I couldn’t think when my body ached everywhere. “I might… not walk.”
He just chuckled. Seriously? I didn’t find this funny at all. Instead of letting me be he leaned closer to me but kept the distance.
“One more time. If you do a good job, we will stop there.” Thrawn said smiling. I hate this. If I wasn’t so tired I would have loved to punch him in the face. Amazing motivator that was.
I got up from the floor to stand. I faced him and lifted my hands to the level of my eyes. I felt how my body protested every action I made. He made the stance like he wasn’t tired or even had sweat. Well, he has trained with the assassin droids, so this was nothing. I launched at him and tried to land the hits to his upper body. He blocked every hit but did not attempt to counterattack. I really, really wanted to punch his face. But when I tried to get even near he would block me. He quickly switched to offense and now I had to block his attacks. He made five attempts, three I managed to dodge but the fourth and fifth hit me right to their marks. Dam, how it hurt. I tried to switch to offense again but it simply ended with him slamming me to the floor and pinning me down. It’s a miracle if I will ever walk again.“Your moves are predictable and sloppy. You need to keep yourself balanced both in your upper body and lower. You did manage to defend your vital points but left yourself open and vulnerable to lesser attacks.” He said hovering over me. I probably understood half of the words he said.
“Kriff, just stop it already,” I growled in basic under him.
“Wrong language, my dear. Try again.” Thrawn tormented me. I had no strength left even to push him away. And I was really tired.
“End this now,” I said angrily, clearly making pronouncement errors with the words. Thrawn just stayed there smiling and pinning me under him. If only I had the strength to move or the least guts to kick him now where it hurts. If Chiss can be hurt there? But my sore body was begging for a rest and it won over every speck of pride and anger. “Please, no more, … I’m… tired. I can’t continue.”
That did the trick, Thrawn got up and even helped me up from the floor. I wanted to get to my quarters for a nice long shower and then rest on my bed. I might probably sleep for days and still feel the pain in my body from all the impact of the floor and hits. Of all things Thrawn wanted to teach me, combat training was not one I ever thought it would be. I had protested the whole idea from the moment he brought it up. But he had his way. If the fact that he made visits to my quarters didn’t raise suspicion or rumors then this did. Him leaving me a mess from all the training, and did just the thing for others to whisper about it and make it into a rumor.
