During the jump to Batuu, I was excused by Vader. And I was allowed to leave for a moment. Vader was in his quarters, and Thrawn was at his office. I went to my small room and pulled out my robe and continued working on its decorations. Vader wouldn't allow any elaborated decorations. He had given his permission to the tassels. As for the embroidery, I decided to use black on black. The robe itself had a matte finish, so the embroidery would be done with black with luster. Both would be of the same color but the way the light would hit it would make it elegant. This was just what I needed, some quiet and calm time. Before I could begin my work I heard my comlink alarm that someone was contacting me. I took the com out and looked at the caller's identity number. It was Thrawn.
"Yes?" I answered the call.
"Lady Mira, if you are free, please come to my office," Thrawn said through the comlink. "I have informed Vader that I would request your presence if he doesn't need you."
So much for the quiet and calm. He ended the call there and I began to put away my robe and the strings for the embroidery work. I wasn't sure what annoyed me more, that he had called me during my peaceful rest time or that he had called Vader and informed him that he would request my presence. I can practically feel the tension in the air when Vader received the call. Well, if Vader didn't want me to go, he would have said so to me or even to the Grand Admiral.
It took longer than before to get to Thrawn's office since my quarters were now closer to Vader's. When my room was closer to Thrawn's it had taken a few minutes, now I would have to run if I wanted to get to his office near the same time. I wasn't in the mood for a jog, so I walked at my usual pace. Just to see how much longer it would take to get me there. On the way, I felt a presence near me. For a moment, I wondered who it was, but then I quickly remembered.
"If you are going to follow me, do it without your cloaking device," I said out loud as I turned and faced an empty space behind me.
For a moment, nothing happened but then the cloaking device turned off and Rukh stood there. I didn't like him. I wasn't sure why yet but something about him made me feel like I wanted to stay away from him.
"The Admiral is waiting." He said with his growling voice.
"That was where I was heading. Didn't he send you to see that I was coming?" I asked.
"No." He said. "He asked to check if Vader doesn't need you now."
Great. What else is bound to happen on this trip? I turned away from him and kept walking towards my destination. Rukh followed behind me without his cloaking device. Once I was close to Thrawn's office, I thought to give some advice to the Noghri.
"Try to stay away from The Darkhwak. Vader said himself that it would be your last if you try it again." I said.
"I know. I heard about it." Rukh said and I could see a small smile rising to his lips. Either he likes to annoy people or he likes danger.
I dropped all those thoughts as I walked to the office of the Grand Admiral. Rukh didn't follow me this time. Thrawn was going through a few files on his datapad but set it down when he saw me coming.
"Ah, good. You are here." He said in Sy Bisti. Oh no. I know what it is that he called me.
"You got to be kidding me." I sighed in basic and rubbed my forehead. Goodbye, quiet and calm time.
"Wrong language." Thrawn reminded in Sy Bisti and got up from his seat.
"I am not in the mood," I argued still in basic. He gave me a look that told me just enough for me to understand that this won't end my way.
"I am not doing this," I said in Sy Bisti. "I'm hurt. I am not... going to... continue... lessons."
"Putting them on hold won't be wise." He said as he walked closer to me. "If not trained regularly, what you have learned till now, could slip away."
