When I woke up I felt better than yesterday. But once I saw where I was sleeping my mood got ruined. I recall having another episode of too-real vision. But I didn’t recall falling asleep in the arms of the Chiss. Actually, I would understand why I would curl up next to him like a Loth-cat, and why he has his arm around me. Both must be because I was very, very cold. But why was I hugging him like a needy child? One of my hands was holding to the cover I was wrapped in while the other was hugging his frame.
Thrawn had his eyes closed and he seemed like he was sleeping. So, I tried very slowly to slip away from him. But after moving my hand two inches his own came to rest on top of it. I thought it was a reaction, till I tried to pull my hand away and I noticed how firm his grip was.
“I hope you have a good reason to get up,” Thrawn said softly. I was wrong, he wasn’t sleeping. Then I remembered him saying that he doesn’t need as much sleep as humans do. He sifted his position on the bed so he was facing me directly while partly towering over me.
“Well?” He asked.
I have to remain calm and polite. I was already ashamed of many things. I don’t want more reasons to hide in my room for the rest of the rotation. I should be not only polite but submissive in a certain way.
“Forgive me, Grand Admiral. I thought it would be rude for me to take your bed, while you remained in an uncomfortable position during your rest.” I said. “I was trying to… move a bit to give you more space.”
His eyes narrowed only so slightly that I almost missed it. But then he gave me the same look that made me annoyed, especially when he was making me learn Sy Bisti.
“If you refuse to speak what is true, then never speak again,” Thrawn said in Sy Bisti. It took me a moment to understand what he meant, and then I frowned.
“I didn’t lie.” I defended myself. “I was really moving away to give you space.”
“Were you now? So, you weren’t trying to slip away from your punishment?” Thrawn asked.
“I think I have been through enough punishment. Please tell me this is it.” I whined.
“That depends…” Thrawn said leaving the tension in the air. “…how do you answer the following question.”
It was like I shrank under his gaze. What is he going to ask? If it was about the vision of my friends then, I have to refuse and go through something worse than what I had gone through till now. But he already promised not to do anything improper to me but if he was now going to take back his word. No, he wouldn’t. But he could come up with something else.
“What did you see to cause such a frenzy before?” Thrawn asked.
I gasped, I forgot that he knew that this issue came from the vision. This wasn’t the first time. I can’t hide this from him, but I have no idea how to explain this to him.
“I… I… don’t know how to even begin to explain it.” I began.
“Try it anyway,” Thrawn said. I swallowed a hard one before I began.
“When I see a vision… that’s what it always is. A vision. I’m not part of it. I’m invisible, a nobody. But now… it feels real.” I tried.
“Real how?” Thrawn asked.
“They can see me, attack me. It’s like they are warning me not to… come to them.” I said.
“Was the vision of the future or the past?”
“Past. It was a marriage ceremony between Azel and Verdies… they were in Scarif. There was a boy who saw me. I know because he was looking right at me, and when I looked at him, he reacted. And then the wolves…” I said.
