It was dark just like always. But now I looked around even more. I could barely see the pathways leading to some “portals”. Instead of walking, I floated to the portals as they lit up and showed the events. I almost missed the vision in front of me as I tried to look around me. It was of the past. I saw familiar scenes of Lothal, it looked peaceful probably before the Empire. Loth cats ran past the grasslands. Wolves howled in the distance. I felt the breath on my neck. I turned and I saw the wolf again. It looked at me curiously, wondering what I did here. I extended my hand towards it, for a moment I thought it didn’t like to be touched. But then it leaned toward my hand and let me pet it.
“What happened?" I asked. "Why was I called here before?”
The wolf just looked at me. Then it turned and crouched down. It took me a moment to understand that it wanted me to ride it. Getting on the wolf felt weird. But soon I was led through the darkness, and past the “portals”. I could hear the sound behind them and recognize when they happened. It was all in the past. The death of the Jedi, the beginning of the Empire. Then we came to a stop. It was empty. There was nothing there. Yet something told me that there used to be something right here.
“What happened?” I asked.
“Gate… closed,” The wolf growled. Closed? Was it…Ezra? “Gate … gone…danger …gone.”
Someone was trying to breach this place. And Ezra was here with Ahsoka to stop it. But then, why was I summoned here? To help them? To help Ezra. He was close to crossing the limit. But he didn’t. I looked at the emptiness. The “portal” that Ezra had used was gone. Was that what I felt after I woke up? The destruction of the place? I came down from the wolf's back and walked to the emptiness. When I usually stood in front of these “portals”, I could sense them like a wall or a window. Now, as I got closer, I felt nothing. Cold. I was about to wake up soon.
I heard the wolf growl. I turned to face it but it wasn’t looking at me. It was looking at…Vah’nya?
“Vah’nya?”
The girl was barely visible yet I could recognize her. She was looking around as if she was lost. I dashed to her and as I got close, she became more visible and solid.
“What are you doing here?” I asked grabbing the girl's arms. “How did you get here?”
“I used the second sight… I wanted to see where you go… where is this?” Vah'nya said as she looked around. The wolf was coming closer, growling and baring its teeth. Didn’t Vah'nya see it?
“Vah'nya, you need to get out now,” I told her.
“But…”
“Quickly!”
The wolf leaped, and as I saw it, I pulled Vah'nya away and to the side. It was then that she saw the wolf. She shrieked as she saw the beast. I pulled her with me and we both ran from the wolf.
“You need to get out. Do you know how?” I asked as we ran.
“Yes, but what about you?” Vah'nya asked.
“I just wake up. Go!”
Vah’nya closed her eyes and slowly I felt how she slipped through my fingers. When I turned to look she was gone but the wolf was right behind me. I wasn’t eager to feel those teeth on me, so I decided to use Ezra's way to wake up. Jump over the edge. The wolf was a couple of feet away when I jumped and was swallowed by the darkness.
I woke up with a loud gasp. I quickly scanned around and noted that everything was as it was before I went to sleep. Except for one thing, Vah'nya wasn’t sleeping in the bed. She was kneeling right next to the chair and her hands were holding mine. She had woken up right before I did, and she removed her hands just when I woke up myself. I quickly came down to my knees from the chair and grabbed her arms.
