"Alright class, listen up because I'm not gonna repeat myself," Remy called out. For once, he was actually on time, early even. He was clearly excited for whatever he had planned.

They were at the "fake town" even though it should be called a fake city with how it was designed. It looked like they took a portion of any city and landed it on the island, filled it with dummies, and called it a day.

"Today you'll begin hero training. Now I understand that not all of you are going to be heroes, however this is still required so you can keep your options open, also it's fun as hell. You will have a partner for today's exercise, who will be picked at random, and you will be given some type of hostage scenario. There will be a bank scenario, a jewelry store scenario, a bar scenario, no there is no alcohol in there, and a house scenario where an upset family member is threatening the safety of the family. Your first priority above all else is to protect the hostage, which are training dummies. However, you will get points checked off if the villains escape or die. The villains are robotic, courtesy of Dr. Sanders, and they can replicate some form of power. There are three kinds of robots, ones with sharp claws, ones with low voltage electrical powers, and ones that can create strong winds. If anything gets out of hand, I will step in and the scenario is over, we also have medical staff on hand and ready in case things get serious. This exercise is to build teamwork and test how you handle high level situations. Some students will work as the hero committee, while others will be the heroes."

"Sounds exciting," Remus whispered to Janus.

"We do something like this every year. By the way, the low voltage electrical powers hurt, but it's only in the robots hands so just avoid those."

"Taser hands, got it."

"Okay, just follow me and we'll go to 'mission control' to get ready," Remy called, already walking away.

"This is going to be so exciting!" Patton squealed as they walked through the gates and into the false town.

"We'll this is the second year we're doing this," Logan reminded him. "Only students in 9th grade and above are allowed to do this."

"Do you two think you're ready for this?" Patton turned to the twins.

"I'm more than ready," Remus answered.

"Yeah, I'm excited to see what we get!" Roman said.

"As long as I get a partner that doesn't suck, and I get to be a hero, I'm good," Virgil added.

"Oh, do you want to be a hero when you graduate?"

"Yeah, I think it's pretty important. I'd like to protect people."

"Aw, that's a better reason than why I want to be a hero. I just want to impress my parents."

"You mean dad, cause mom is impressed by whatever we do," Remus corrected. "And you don't need to impress him. He's a jerk and can fuck off, he doesn't care about us."

"That's not true, he cares, he's just busy all the time."

"Sure, whatever you want to believe." Remus rolled his eyes as they entered a building.

"Okay guys, this is a small scale replica of mission control!" Remy said, gesturing to the place.

There were several screens and computers all over the place, desks with computers in front of them and several giant screens in the front. The lights were dim and several headphones were skewed all over the place.

On the screens in the front there were cameras pointed to several different places in town. Jewelry stores, banks, houses, apartments, community stores, anywhere that could have a hostage situation.
